Does that look right? Assume that they're given an incentive (i.e., $100 for every minute they're under 10:00) but are only given a week's notice, which rules out any significant training unless they're already fit.
You seem to think the majority of people in their forties won’t finish, which seems unlikely. Most healthy people can at least walk the distance if they get to a point where they can no longer maintain the running form. Maybe you meant not finishing under 10 is considered DNF.
Just curious if you've met the average American. 70% of adults are obese or overweight. Very few exercise regularly...hard to get reliable data on this as people consistently exaggerate(ie lie) about how often they exercise.
I'm class of 2000. I bet 50% would DNF in my class.
