Hmm. 4 years of Trumpenomics will be so disastrous that Americans are looking for change. So many will be driven into poverty by the recession the gop creates. Stocks might be doing great - but the stock market isn't the savings of real Americans.
THIS^^. How quickly we forget just how bad his economy was after his first term.
Inflation was at 1.4% when Trump handed it off to Biden. Under Biden it went above 9%.

It is so pathologically stupid to pretend COVID and Democrat lockdowns were the Trump economy.
The 2019 economy was booming and everyone knows it.
You just got thumped in the election because everyone who actually shops knows it.
The way forward for democrats is a universalist class politics.
Message needs to be that if you work hard and play by the rules, no matter who you are, you can have a decent life. Healthcare costs too much, rent is too high, homes are unaffordable, and we're going to do everything we can to make those things attainable by ordinary people. And while we'll be compassionate in reasonable ways on immigration, we're going to prioritize helping people here who need it, right now.
Democrats won on abortion, they won on gay rights, they won the culture war. It's done. Trump will be out office and they'll, thankfully, have no reason to run against a person rather than on issues. They need a vision for ordinary people.
Basically, they need a Bernie Sanders type who is younger, more affable, and doesn't call himself a socialist.

Whoever that person is.
Sounds like Mayor Pete!
On behalf of non-leftists everywhere PLEASE run Mayor Pete in 2028. PLEASE!!!
She represents her district, but she doesn’t govern it.
I never said she governed it. But she represents it. If it is your district, would you not try to clean it up? It is a reflection on her. She seems to not give a damn how awful it is. Would you feel that way if it was your district?
It’s not her job and she has no power to implement anything. There are mayors, city councils, the governor and state legislatures. Do you think Pelosi governs San Francisco? Do House members from wealthy districts deserve praise?
They can't run a woman again. Two tries, two losses. USA not ready for it.
They can't run a slick west coast guy like Newsome.
I like Mayor Pete a lot, but can't see him winning due to his homosexuality. Rumor has it that Pete is going to run for MI governor because Gretch is term limited.
It should probably be a Midwestern governor. Pritzker, maybe. I don't know enough about him.

Can AOC NOT organize efforts to clean up her district? If you are a Congressperson and your district is a sh*thole, would you not want to clean it up? I would be embarrassed to have my home district stocked with hookers, homeless and drug users. Every weekend I would organize large-scale efforts for volunteers to clean up the crap. Provide water and pizza and maybe even gift cards. Is it that hard? She can't do that? Is she impotent?
It's not Mayor Pete, not even close. He's a management class dork who when asked about healthcare, worried that health insurance company employees might lose their jobs. Just another milquetoast dud. He is not the future.
That said, here are some more facts:
Republicans won. Democrats vision was rejected.
But the Republicans have a perilous road to walk.
In 2004, Bush won by a similar margin. Basically same map except Pennsylvania. In 2004, Republicans won 55 Senate seats.
There was a lot of talk about mandates, political capital, etc.
In 2006, Democrats flipped five Senate seats.
In 2008, they flipped 8 more and destroyed the Republican party across the board.
Trump has a tough road to walk. He's still not widely popular. Gaza is still a mess. Prices are high and soon he'll own those if things don't turn around. Mortgage rates are high and still he'll own those too.
Dems will have an opening. Trump is not a good manager and soon he'll have to manage a fractious coalition. Nothing like governing exposes cracks in the foundation. They just need to leave behind the identity BS and connect to ordinary people. Some management, McKinsey graduate Lisa Simpson dork like Pete is not the answer
It's funny that anyone thinks the candidate matters. There will be some election policy changes to make it harder to vote in urban areas making the swing states a lock.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I can't see her winning the primary though. Dems will probably try the centrist candidate hoping people are sick of gop policies again. She'd have to go on the attack and inspire people. Winning a 77% minority district that has voted left for decades doesn't give someone the experience to do that.
Newsom - governor of an easy state to win. Won't inspire people in the midwest. Could win primaries though.
Harris - Maybe. People tend to vote for names they know. A bad enough gop candidate could be defeated by her.
Whitmore - Well at least she might win Michigan. She has passed tax cuts which seems to be the top issue for voters.
No one is going to jump from the House to the presidency. Occasio-Cortez needs to wait about 10 years and become a senator in the meantime. I think her Green Deal will be too much baggage for her.
What governor of an easy state to win, mean?
This time around, Harris was the right person at the right time, but she’ll have no shot in 2028.
I’m hoping there will be a new candidate that isn’t currently on the radar.
Senators make horrible presidents because, like House members, they are not LEADERS. That group comes from the group of politicians called Governors. Obama was an exception because of his personality. He would have been elected gov of Illinois if he'd wanted to run (and the Illinois Democratic machine would have allowed it).
