January 18, 2006 Smashing time in store for Hartshorne masters miles The oldest masters track event in the eastern United States, founded by the late Jim Hartshorne, is a series of indoor miles that now bear his name at Cornell University, his alma mater in Ithaca, New York. With a potential $900 payout to record-setters, the races being held Saturday again have golden potential. Event director Rick Hoebeke has shared the entry lists, which are a Who's Who of masters miling, including M40 legend Tony Young of Washington state, flying out for the fun of it.

He did not make a mistake, I always believe in the miracle of training, and there is nothing lost by thinking big.

Hmm well I train at Barton Hall and I also run track meets there so I am safe in saying the surface and tight bends are not conducive to mega fast times. I am not afraid to speak my mind or be objective, I am also not on these message boards to stir people up. I stick to my guns, the winning times for Marisa and Tony(solo efforts) were amazing, I believe this was only Marisa's 2nd indoor mile in eons if ever,the rest of us were in another race of our own unfortunately....I hope the pie in the sky is apple and blackberry :O) My favourite!

It's a morning race, not crowd supported, and there is no competition for him to race against(unlike some of his other nice runs under 4:10)
The guy certainly has more sub 4:10 races in him, but it's tough to run at that speed every time out.
The Hartshorne is good for many, many reasons other than racing to fast times. It really is one of the few event that focuses on Master-Miling in ALL the age groups and ALL levels of ability. If you can make the race, make it, the race, the banquet, the socializing is a very unique and fantastic experience.
But, whoever the fan is that scrutinized the results, I say let him. And he is probably right that Sarah's responses are not exactly impartial and objective (she is simply too nice to not always see the "pie in the sky.)
It's nice that people are paying attention to our little niche and that it is treated like any other sport, with praise and civil critique.

If Haterade is a bother to you then please get real, thats mild speak for this message board, also if you have never lost all your iron stores then you have little room to make judgements....its a big problem for many runners.... I am not apolagizing for any mention of it!
