No it isn't. Running a 4;30 mile is like bench pressing 350. I know because I came close to both feats in my life. A 4:39 mile and a 325 lb bench. For example, training is needed in both situations. There is no way anyone, no matter what talent can perform these feats without training. Then the second component is natural talent and not everyone has the talent, no matter how much training they do, can pull these feats off. For example, if a person went to the gym and lifted his butt off for two years, there is a good chance that person would not even be able to bench 300 unless he had some natural hidden strength. in other words, he would no be able to do it. The same goes for a 4:30 mile, no matter how hard someone trains most people cant perform this feat. Most people believe they can do it until they really try. Runners need to get more respect. If you go to any neighborhood and see people jogging, 90% of them have no form, no athletic ability , and are probably running at a 12 minute mile pace. There is no way, any of these people could even break seven minutes. Yet they train all the time. I was a runner in HS and could have easily made the other Sports teams such as soccer, football or basketball. I concentrated on track because a 4:39 mile made me more valuable than a starting wide receiver. There were a lot of kids that could have played receiver, but not many that could have run 4:39. I hope this clears it up.
