The movie is not about racism. It presents well Carl Rogers' theory that all people are basically good...that if we could see things from their "frame of reference" we would understand why good people do bad things. I think it's a message worth repeating. Overall I think Crash is a gorgeous movie.
The director (Paul Haggis)came and did a screening for some classes at USC the fall before the movie was released in theaters. Several students made similar comments to the the ones on this board (i.e. the movie is about racism, etc.). The movie, at least according to the guy who made it, is not about racism. It is about every person's propensity for good and evil (not that all people are basically good). If you paid attention in the movie you would notice that no character (with the exception of maybe the locksmith) is without fault. Haggis does not try to justify anyone's actions. He does not want us ot forgive Matt Dillon or Ryan Phillipe for that matter.

History of Violence was diturbing- and had some porno in it.
I thought he did a great job! Really he played a great role- she was just hot , in a mom sort of way
