SJU goes from MIAC champs to having no one get all-conference....wow. Is the coaching slacking or are there just not as good of athletes/talent?
Look like it was a great race, with very fast times from Ruon and Mudry. Did they battle at all or did Ruon lead the whole way? St. Thomas underperformed, and St. Olaf won with 11 fewer points than I predicted (86). Hamline ran great, with 87 (I guessed 112), and Bethel had a great day, nearly catching St. Thomas. St. John's ran slightly better than I predicted, but still ended up with only 5th rather than 4th.
My predictions weren't too bad. I guessed there would be 12 under 26:00 and there were 11, 35 under 27:00 and there were 34. I got the exact correct places for Mudry, Gladitsch and Noack, and was within ten seconds for Gladitsch, Boumeester, Green, O'Neill, Hunter, Noack and Lowder. Six runners made the top 35 who I didn't predict.

Congrats to everyone who got their goals.
Wow good job buddy.
Ya you also predicted the tommies to win, ruon 4th. Now you're trying to claim that the tommies under performed? face it they lost and they were highly hyped before hand by people you and tommie lovers. they werent any better than 3rd, Hamline was the team to beat and Oles performed well.
i thought someone said there is no way greeno doesn't win. was he even close to Ruon during the race, or did he just die trying to hang onto ruon's pace? also, never thought I would see a Mac guy actually run well this late in the season. THey usually peak by 1st week of october.

Congrats to everyone who got Fastnbulbous' goals too!
Jake Marotz "won it" for the Oles in the sense that without him they would have had their fifth man above 27. As I understand it he was dealing with a stress fracture for the first part of the season. I hope he got a free cup. Badass. The Tommies coach should have made their fifth man run home from the meet after that performance...
You might want to look at those results one more time...
St. Olaf's fifth was a half-second ahead of the Tommies' fifth. So I guess maybe both of them should have run home together.
You might want to look at results again, Jake Marotz wasn't their 5th guy, Jon Lambert, who didn't seem to have the best race, was 5th. If Marotz hadn't been there, the Oles would've lost. If he really came back after a stress fracture, it's all the more impressive.
Why do so many sad sacks on here sound angry all the time? Don't take things so personally. I had good reason to pick St. Thomas. A couple guys ran slower than they had been recently, so they got third. I'm happy to see St. Olaf win, it's not like I put money down on this. It's still pretty close between the top four, and things could go totally different at Regionals.
I'm excited to see Ruon, Mudry and a few others shoot for All-American.
Here's the guys who ran much faster than my predictions:
Jake Marotz ~:60+
Dan Foley :43
Mark Hartman ~:40
Tyler Hinrichs :28
Ian Campbell :22
Charlie Gamble :21
Duboul Ruon :17
Dustin Franta :17
Wow I would like to give props to the competitiveness of this conference. It's exciting watching a race not knowing who is going to win, even if the St. Thomas Ladies seem to cut the pivotal seconds every year.
AOM Candidates:
Foley
Mudry
Others?
Regional predictions? How will the MIAC teams stack up against Grinnell, Luther, etc.
I did not say he was there fifth man. I said that without him, their fifth man would have been above 27. In addition, St. Thomas's fifth man was expected to finish much higher than he did.
Nothing happens the way you expect. Did the tommies 5th man underperform? maybe. but I would say their top guys are the ones who underperformed. I am not quite sure why everyone is saying their 5th man did so bad. Additionally, alot of guys probably underperformed. I wouldn't say Olaf ran as well as they could have. Marotz really stepped it up and saved the day when others didn't come through. Regions will be interesting.
