For claiming to not like Hany at all, most of you spend the majority of your days with your lips surrounding his nuts
So the Poll came out today, and I am just wondering what comments people have...I will throw in a few...
Just looking at the UAA which has a good representation on the poll with 5 teams in the top 25 and another 2 just off it, how is Wash U, which went to nationals last year and was tied for second in the conference not on the poll, while Rochester is 26th, and Case which lost arguably the one guy from their team with a national presence is 33rd, cracking the national poll for the first time in recent memory....Anything else stick out?
Excellent points, Beartastic. The one thing you *don't* want to do with WashU--in any sport--is to provide them with bulletin-board material! I used to know some of the UAA coaches and I'm sure they're not completely thrilled with this pre-season poll.
Expect Wash to be top-three in the conference--and a threat to win, if NYU trains through the UAA meet--and to make another trip to Nationals.
And no, I have/had no connection to Wash--in fact, am not a fan of the school--but their program has earned everyone's respect.
How did Brandeis get up there?
no one cares about d3. you have your own website; use it
300+ posts beg to differ that no one cares.
Butzler FTW!!!
Thats a good question how Brandeis made the poll, especially since they didnt make nationals, and were only 2nd in one of the toughest conferences in the country.

Brandeis was second at UAA last year, than had their whole team get food poisoning the week between uaa and regionals. A better question is how in the heck is CASE up ranked, they will be battling for last at the uaa with chicago this year. NYU, Wash, CMU, Emory, Brandeis and even Rochester are better than CASE. Chicago should beat CASE as well, but their about the only team CASE has a shot at.

While I may agree with some(well most) of what you said, didn't case beat emory at the UAA meet last year and graduate no one?
Take a look a the development of the Emory team during the track season. They were very young last year, lost only the 800 guy Leventhal? who really wasnt a xc guy, and the restof the group improved during both the indoor and outdoor season.
If Emory loses to CASE, i would be shocked. That being said Emory will still only be 26 or so at NCAA's.

Well I decided to look at outdoor UAAs, and all I see is Fife laying down some great times (especially for the steeple/5k double), but really he just beat Case's 2nd/3rd guy from the UAA xc meet, which he did there anyway(he didn't race Case's top guy from the UAA xc meet, so there is no way to tell if he "improved head to head"). Also, it appears as though case's top xc guys improved their relative positions against emory (when they were in similar races) at the UAA outdoor meet.
I find it funny how there is an argument going about the two teams who placed 2nd to last and last in a conference, and not on who is going to win the conference.
Isn't this thread supposed to be discussing teams who could WIN the national meet (Calvin, NYU, etc) and not teams who will place 25-32 if they make it?
