I ran a version of the course a few times at the MN state meet. It is pretty flat with a few short ditches between soccer fields and one larger hill that's about 400-600 meters long. Even if the college course is longer I can't really see it being too hilly, that area is really just farm land and a college campus.
One of the added loops (from 5k to 8k) is definitely the hilliest section of the course. It makes the 400-600 meter hill you mentioned seem pretty easy. Other than the one very large hill on the back of the course, it is relatively flat. Most coaches should know the course, as they have held nationals there in the recent past.
Since we all like actual predictions, this is where the Mens teams will fall in 2007.

yes, that would be amazing if all 35 teams didn't finish in the exact spots you predicted them to.
While not a great time, if you look at past results, he and Williams from NYU, ran 35+ seconds faster than Williams ran than last year. the course was actually measured and legit after being 40 yards short last year. I spoke to Ryan after the race and he said he and Hany were both doing alot of mileage and nothing fast at all. Said they ran really even, just didnt get out with the kenyan guys. November is a long way off, my guess is they will be ready when it counts.

I don't know much about any teams besides those on the west coast. So I'll stick to them. Last years nationals course killed Oxy's front two. Expect those guys to be in the top 20 individually and top 15 for their team. Willamette should be top 15 also.
Colorado College returns their top three and if they managed to snag a decent fourth runner then you can expect them in at least the top 20.
CMS loses their number one and has no one to take his place. Don't expect them to make nationals as a team or send any individuals.
If your going to rate 35 teams on the national level then do some research.

Moreover, East River Park has a 400m track. It's maybe a mile, mile and a half, away from the gym--a warmup jog, really--and I know in years past they have used it fairly often.
Anyway, NYU in recent years has had all-Americans in the sprints and hurdles and jumps (including a DIII champ in the TJ), so I'd say they do pretty well with the speed guys that they do get.

Madjik was NASTY. That kid could jump out of the gym. He was a film student (also, a very nice and humble guy) and I suppose he lost time/interest in track.
Madjik was great, with limited practice time due to his film major. Film asked him to do more and more stuff outside of class, so track took a backseat.Rooftop of Coles Sports center is a rectangle, sure you can google to find a photo of it online. All the Men's track team does is drills and strides up there, you cant do a workout.They do use East River, but that is at best a practice track with no jumping pits or mats.

Since the coaches poll is usually about 10 percent correct in predicting exact finish, I'd say this is about as good as any.
Probably the top 10 are reasonably close, and probably the bottom 10 in your list probably are not. There are probably another 5-7 teams that could also be considered in those slots as well.

Gotta go with Al Carius. He had a very young team last year that had a nice season. The Cardinals are going to surprise NCAA D3. Matt Moran is doing great things with SUNY Cortland as well. Hey, it's a prediction, we'll see in the fall what happens.
I am pretty sure i remember hearing that the east river track used for workouts, has a hill on the backstretch....so i think we can stick with the no track thing.
haaah, very true. It did get resurfaced, still had a bit of a hill, but the last 10 months it had no lines or marks on the track, so you had to guess where the 300 start and 200 marks were. You can basically only run even laps: ie 400, 800,1200,1600 for workouts.
D3 stinks! they couldn't cut it in D2 let alone d1.
