The Taliban/Al Qaeda was routed, by the way. The US (and its Allies) moved an entire invading and occupying force to Afghanistan, half way around the world, killed tens of thousands of Taliban psychos, dismantled Al Qaeda, put bin Laden on the run, and effectively ended the threat to Americans of Islamic terrorism.
Your suggestion that the US military is "clearly incapable" of defeating the Taliban is somewhat disgusting and factually inaccurate. The only "clearly incapable" component is the ability of Afghans to live in any kind of democratic society. They don't want it. Some cultures/people seem to prefer living under oppressive, dictatorial regimes where they are told what to do, when to do it, and how they should think. Look at Russia, for example. Russians crave being told what to do, and what to think when they get up in the morning. Russians will kill for their right to be subjugated serfs. Afghans, and many other inhabitants of Middle Eastern countries, are no different. Any mistakes the US made during the duration of the Afghan occupation -- which could hardly be called a "war" after 2012 -- were in failing to realize Afghans truly wanted Islamic whackjobs dictating what goes on in the country. Go figure.
You don't know anything about warfare.
You don't know anything about Afghanistan.
You've never spoken to any of these people.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
You cannot defeat an enemy in a mountainous country like Afghanistan with the handful of soldiers we sent over there. It would take at least a million combat troops and we never had more than 100,000 troops on the ground and more than half of them were support units.
Afghanistan is a bunch of mountains with little villages and towns in the valleys. The US can show up and clean out the valley with little effort. Then they go back to their bases or FOBs and the Taliban come back in. It was Vietnam all over again. Killing people and not holding the ground didn't work in Vietnam and it didn't work in Afghanistan.
Afghans do NOT want the Taliban. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
You don't know jack about warfare.
You don't know jack about Afghanistan.
You've never spoken to any of these people, although it would not surprise me if you now pay homage to the same imams and dervishes.
You have absolutely no idea (less than jack) what you're talking about.
The enemy was defeated in Afghanistan. Your suggestions regarding the need for a million US combat troops are demented. Your comparison of Afghanistan to Vietnam is similarly demented and off the charts stupid. Afghanistan is nothing like Vietnam, and the obvious differences are too long to list or discuss with a neophyte like yourself.
Afghans crave Taliban rule. It's the confounding element that we could never address. Thankfully, it does not appear to matter. The US military (with its Allies), and DESPITE cowardly terrorist negotiations like the ones you support, effectively destroyed international Islamic terrorism.
You have a weird penchant for arguing distinctions with no meaningful difference. The Taliban killed American soldiers in Afghanistan. The Taliban supported Al Qaeda, before and after the September 11, 2001 attacks on America, to such an extent that they are indistinguishable for purposes of the threat of, and responsibility for, terrorism against innocent Americans.
It doesn't matter when your interest in Afghanistan ended. What matters is that you believe in, and support, negotiating with terrorists, and conceding to terrorist demands that terrorist murderers be released from prison. You are defined as a person by those disgusting, immoral, un-American beliefs. That's what matters.
The Taliban considers Afghanistan to be their home. When foreign invaders come to your home to kill you. You fight back.
I think they're all animals that deserve to die but I'm not an idiot so I don't think it's "terrorism" to defend your own country.
A russian-speaking immigrant using a false identity infiltrated Mar a Lardo!
Good thing 45 was prescient of this kind of thing and sent all those top-secret documents back to DC where they belonged! Oh wait, he kept them in his basement.
Good god the Republicans are the biggest threat to this nation.

I've been in combat. You haven't.
I've been to the middle east. You haven't.
I've spoken to plenty of them. You haven't.
The enemy was not defeated in Afghanistan. Only an idiot would say that. Afghanistan is about the size of Texas. If you think you could stamp out the resistance in an area the size of Texas with 100,000 troops you know even less about warfare than I thought.
Your inability to understand the parallels between Vietnam and Afghanistan is just more proof you're a fool. Killing the enemy isn't enough to win a war. In both Vietnam and Afghanistan the US concentrated on killing the enemy rather than occupying territory. It does not work.
You're a peace time Navy veteran. Stop with the delusion that you know anything about combat.
Afghans want to be ALIVE. Same as anyone else. When the Americans are in the village they support the Americans. When the Americans leave they support the Taliban because the Taliban is present and will kill them if they don't. Guess what happened in Vietnam. The villagers supported the Americans when they were present and after they left they supported the VC because the VC were present.
The "classified" documents were de-classified and the corrupt FBI and DoJ just want to make sure no one sees what they prove.
Wrong, I just heard a lawyer explain this earlier today.
A President cannot imagine them de-classified, he must communicate that. That’s where Trump is in trouble, he never communicated it.
Hoo boy. Okay, once again: FOR THE THREE LAWS AT ISSUE IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER THE DOCUMENTS WERE DECLASSIFIED OR NOT. Classification status is absolutely irrelevant with regard to those laws.

Should I take your word or that of a lawyer discussing the issue on a conservative radio show, hmmm tough choice.

Goodness gracious you spend all day posting on here. Why don't you go out and contribute to the GDP or something?

I probably made a more useful contribution to society than you ever will about 15 minutes after my morning coffee today.

You two are not really disagreeing, you are talking about different issues. Trump could not have declassified documents secretly in his mind. AND it doesn't matter in this case regarding the laws Trump broke.
1/ if the Fed’s don’t indict trump on this, they will set a precedent that they really don’t indict people for mishandling docs. Would make future prosecutions difficult. So they might need to indict.
2/ if trump let MAL workers near the documents then he is guilty of letting non-approved people near classified information.

1. They already set that precedent with Bill and Hillary Clinton.
2. You're wishing out loud while having no idea what happened.
Leaving aside the legality…who in the world does this? How awful a politician or human being do you have to be to do this? That’s how bad trump and his supporters are.
Nyt:
But agents were most alarmed to discover that many of the materials included the highest national security restrictions, requiring they be held in controlled government storage facilities, and barring them from ever being shared with foreign governments, to protect “clandestine human sources” employed by the intelligence community to collect information around the world, according to the documents.

Trump would gladly burn the identities of secret operatives simply because he is mad he lost the election.

It doesn't matter under the law. It might matter to a jury. Both are right.

I hadn't thought about the second one. Interesting.

The opposite of a patriot.
The FBI literally fabricated evidence and doctored FISA warrants against Donald Trump to try and prevent his election. The FBI told Facebook not to allow the Hunter Biden laptop story despite knowing the story was true and literally having the laptop in their possession.
These are facts.
The FBI and Obama administration literally did WORSE than you idiots are surmising Trump would do.
