I have a Garmin 235 which doesn't measure cadence and I don't wear a footpod. Does this mean I'm a cheater? Please don't alert Boston before 4/17/17.

Helene and/or her scamming entourage may have threatened Let's Run with a lawsuit. It's happened before. And it's almost always from guilty people.

That would be up to you to answer but I'm guessing you haven't been asking for attention or funds for any of it for years.

No I haven't been, but if I was seeking sponsorship I don't think that would mean I need to go buy a better watch in order to be sponsored. Or do sponsors insist on that?

I think everyone is awaiting your gps with measurment of footstrike and cadence for all of your runs for attention and "charity" to date as well as an accounting of all the past charity runs. We're certainly hopeful you upload those soon.

Er, you are wrong Risa Reid. Strava supports cadence, unless you are Rob Young, who deliberately stripped it off his account to make sure we didn't know the TomTom watch was riding the RV half the Tanscon!

Good question and I don't know. Most people who are good enough to be sponsored runners don't personally do the kind of attention seeking and trying to sell inspirational talk and attention seeking and charity soliciting some of the fake runners and charity scammers do. Sponsored runners may attract a following on their own based on their talent but a lot aren't looking for the attention angle.

Also if it's a sponsored marathoner or track athlete there are people along the route or in the venue. Doping is clearly possible but can be caught pretty easily.

Are you going for a record or a big charity run on a course you created?

If not, then obviously no one expects you to prove anything.

She's a nobody. Why would they care about her threatening a lawsuit. Its just hot air because she was BUSTED.

I want to clarify something because I contradicted myself (as cheaters often do).

Originally in the thread I said "other than a Turkey Trot" I've never raised money for charity. That Turkey Trot is here:

Later in the thread I repeatedly say money raised to date: $0. I'm talking about the Run Across Illinois, which I haven't raised any money for to date.

So the turkey trot was my one charity fund raise.

How did this thread get derailed so much?

It's astonishing to me that a lot of these people look radically out of shape for all the running they say they do. Unless they're eating a billion calories a day, if they're claiming they run that many miles why are a lot of them so heavy for years? It would be interesting to put all of them on a treadmill and see them crank out even 100 miles however long it took to gauge their endurance levels.

Overweight people can run and run well, but the mileages being claimed by some of these people who remain quite heavy for years doesn't really add up. I don't know how you could maintain that weight with the number of miles being claimed.

Hi All, with regards to Dave Reading's Lands End to John O'Groats Record Attempt, it was only today when I discovered I was on Dave's website as his coach. I advised Dave on his training for approx. four months prior to London 2016, but other than half a dozen matter of fact chats since then, I have not advised him on any of his training for this coming challenge. Dave's team and those around me know what my thoughts are for his LEJOG Run. I have met some of the best ultra runners during my years in running and when the likes of Don Ritchie a man who has run 49 mins for 10 miles through to 6 hours 10 mins for 100k took ten days to complete the run, I think it is pretty obvious as to what my thoughts and views are. At the end of the day, it is none of my business and certainly not my place to tell a person (other than those who I coach) they are not capable of doing something particularly if it is their belief they can do it. If he raises lots of money for his charity and completes what will certainly be a gruelling challenge irrespective of how long it takes, then very well done and good luck to him, his team, really nice family, all his many sponsors and of course the charity which is supporting his efforts. Incidentally, I have not seen any of Dave's training data and like everyone else, I am only aware of what I have seen posted. With regards to Sportlink Running & Fitness, we helped and assisted Dave early on with product at trade prices, but during the last few months all his footwear and other requirements have been met by other suppliers.

Oh you're right - it does show my average stride rate (though doesn't count steps). Thanks! Now no one can claim I'm cheating. It doesn't have HR - maybe that's what I was thinking of.
