If being appalled by Trump and his followers is a form of zealotry there are more than a few "zealots" on these threads - as well as in the US generally.

In no other Western democracy is a former national leader being subjected to a criminal investigation relating to serious breaches of national security, coming as it does after his inciting an insurrection, denying the legitimacy of an election and being twice impeached by the House - and all the while his supporters are staunchly claiming it is a political witch-hunt and they say the tools of law enforcement have become "weaponised". If they are correct about that then America has truly become a 3rd World "banana republic" - or to use Trump's own words - "a sh*thole country".

If you were a smarter man you'd understand that the party in power weaponizing the justice system to attack its political opponents is the 3rd world behavior.

That RedState article doesn't make sense.

1. It says several times that RedState has reviewed certain Memos it used to write the article, but never links to the Memos, says what the Memos are, or even says why they can't disclose the Memos. Not credible at all.

2. It refers to several letters between the government and Trump's lawyers, but does not link the letters or specifically identify them by date or even recipient, which makes it difficult to determine which letters are being discussed, or if they are even publicly available (unlike the mysterious Memos). That can only be deliberate.

3. The article suggests that a current President's decision to waive executive privilege claimed by a former president is "entrapment." That is a demented and illogical as it sounds.

4. The article also suggests that a Biden's decision to waive executive privilege claimed by a Trump "allow[ed] a criminal investigation to snap into place." That is also as demented and illogical as it sounds, and it is also factually and chronologically incorrect. To the extent the investigation into Trump's possession of classified Top Secret/SCI documents is a criminal investigation, most of the investigation is irrespective of any claim by Trump of executive privilege which only applies to communications between Trump and advisors -- he can't claim executive privilege over classified documents created by other agencies or branches of the government. Said investigation also began long before Biden's waiver.

5. The article argues that it is "insane" for a current President to waive executive privilege claimed by a FORMER president. That is clearly a backwards way of looking at things. The insane thing is for a FORMER president to be claiming that the US government cannot review classified Top Secret documents that the FORMER president RETURNED to the US government and are in the custody of the US government, when such documents are CLEARLY needed for the performance of executive functions by the CURRENT president. There is absolutely no precedent for that nutty idea, and the old Nixon case certainly suggest such executive privilege claims are superfluous and illogical. Think about it.

This article you posted makes absurd claims, deliberately unsupported claims, and is demonstrably wrong on facts. You need to vet the articles that you post BEFORE you post them to make sure they don't have these kinds of massive deficiencies.

I'd be quite comfortable if he was a one-off. But 50% of conservatives STILL support Trump. He's not a lone wolf. There are boat loads that have bought in, and many of them aren't afraid to get violent in defense of their positions.

The Hillary things continues to baffle me. Comey and the weaponized FBI announced they were reopening their probe into those controversial e-mails days before the 2016 elections. If the deep state was all in on protecting her, why not just wait until she won the election then announce the probe? I wouldn't have voted for her either way, but I know of a couple of people who were on the fence with her and the uncertainty with the e-mails pushed them to vote for Trump.
