To be fair to the NY Times, the office of the national archives some 18 months after requesting the return of all documents as required by law multiple times, and the FBI 6 months after requesting return of all documents, an on-site visit, receiving an affidavit from Trumps legal team that was incorrect, and a search under warrant that recovered additional have no idea what all Trump had or still has at Mar a Lago.
If "conservatives" crime it's ok! Because they are the patriots and are out to make the libs cry.

In total, the government has recovered more than 300 documents with classified markings from Mr. Trump since he left office, the people said: that first batch of documents returned in January, another set provided by Mr. Trump’s aides to the Justice Department in June and the material seized by the F.B.I. in the search this month.

"Since the President is completely entrusted with the management and even the disposal of Presidential records during his time in office, it would be difficult for this Court to conclude that Congress intended that he would have less authority to do what he pleases with what he considers to be his personal records," she wrote.

the stunner is that it says trump was keeping "special access program" information in his insecure basement and refused to give it back. That is peak of the pyramid stuff. I say defund the FBI for not raiding M-A-L a year ago.
