The biggest motivation is to clear your name, prove that you are capable of running, at any pace at this point, shut up critics, and perhaps even collect some money. No money should not be your primary motivation. But it is disingenuous to say that you don't want or need the money. Cecily, who makes quite substantially more than you do, arguably, most people, says here

that she wishes someone would offer here $100K to run a 3:11:45. She is a competitor and athlete, motivated by a challenge, who certainly does not need the money, but like any sane person, would jump at the chance.

That is the beauty of the Brojo's challenge. It lays bare any pretense Mike had that he didn't cheat.
All reasonable people recognize that someone wrongfully accused would gladly collect on the challenge to prove their innocence. "I don't need the cash" is laughable. Especially when it also comes with a huge charitable donation. Well played Rojo!
That's what Rossi doesn't get. It is not about the cash. It is about whether you can or ever could run a 3:11:45, or the the pace they challenged you with. The money is a bonus, grabs attention, and highlights how confident they are that you cheated and can't match what you claimed you did at VIA. Not only are you are cheater and liar, you are a moron.
