I feel Eaton could beat Froning in most decathlon disciplines, but not in the strength/power related ones like the throws.

Sorry man components of fitness aren't debatable. You call names troll but you haven't shown a shred of backround in fitness besides talking up your boy/you. So come up with a universal test or post #'s . PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!
My universal test is the CrossFit Games. If it's so effing easy, and if these guys are such pathetic athletes, then ANY "true" athlete should be able to show up and kick their asses and claim $250k. You PUT UP OR SHUT UP!
I also offered up the decathlon at a universal test. We don't need to invent a new one. Two tests of fitness already exist. You don't like the results, so you're trying to invent a third one.
1. Terrible analaogy! Froning isn't erging in a specialized gear that somehow makes him erg faster.
2. I'm comparing Froning to people who have specialized in erging, not on-the-water rowers. And his 6:25 for the 2k is simply superb. Again, comparable to a 14:20 5k.
1. I see no evidence that Froning used a record-eligible rowing machine.
2. You are aware that the indoor record is held by the Gold medallist in single sculls from Sydney? Good rowers don't specialise in indoor rowing. If Froning has any real ability as a rower, why doesn't he demonstrate it in the real sport? Wouldn't a Gold medal raise his profile outside of Crossfit? I'd call that a winning scenario.

Did you not read his post? Froning is equivalent of a 14:20 5k. That's good for a crossfitter, but it's not anywhere near Olympic gold. The same way a decathlete is good in several events, Froning is a good rower, but nowhere near Olympic caliber in that event... or any single event.
FUNNY. Sorry but you are on the wrong board then.. Xfit is a competition based on xfit training buddy.. There should be no argument there and the decathlon is a based on track and field. Components of fitness aren't debatable. Xfit does not change the weight to associate it to % of body weight like powerlifting therefore their competition does not prove who is the fittest. Also throwing in pullups, monkey bars, power lifts etc along with erg rowers does not define someone as the fittest. I just means someone goes to the gym a lot and is used to the equipment. There is a learning curve in some of these. I would say that who ever wins the spartan death race is more fit than your crossfit champs.. Maybe you should read this.

Crossfit or T&F Doesn't cover these domains well enough for me to say you/your boy is the fittest.
Put up or shut up.. Any time any place! With over 20 years of fitness backround in another sport other than running I am sure you might be able to guess since I think Froning sucks on the jump rope and I think Kyle Dake or Jordan Burroughs would straight crush this guy in any fitness competition that you any your brohas make up...
Here is another bit of light reading for you since you seem so dull witted.

You are stupid bro.
Eaton is so far ahead of this chump in power that it would be ugly to watch them competing. Froning and his shockingly bad sprint times he must have a 2m sljump and a 1cm vj, crippled grannies can jump that. Eaton has at least 3.30m and def over 1m in the vert.
Any power sprinter would murder this chump in the weight room... hell... they would do it in crossshit too.

Like Usain Bolt?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSsiUyMR-gwSeriously, watch the video and compare. Usain Bolt looks like a little girl next to Froning in the weight room.
Usain is not a power sprinter.
There's tons of examples even of lower class level sprinters but one of the most famous power sprinters (the list is huge btw), Ben Johnson, far lighter then Froning, far stronger, faster, it's ridiculous to even name them in the same sentence.
Tons of Jumpers are insanely strong too. Im talking 3xBW full squats and 2x power cleans. Hell... pole vaulters do all sort of gymnastics stuff like full planches, real athetic strenght shit, pretty much anyone in T&F (not even elite or top) is better then Froning.

The difference between these two is that Froning competes CLEAN.

Usain is about the same weight as Froning and 6'5". He also barely trains in the weightroom. He would mop the floor with Froning in any sport or test of athleticism. Froning 'might' be better in the weightroom, perhaps. He is slower, has a weaker vertical jump, would get his a$s whooped in football/American football/basketball/etc., and pretty much everything else we define as athletic.
Froning isn't as strong as Jonathon Edwards was, a 165lb triple jumper. His accomplishments are that he can clean and jerk a decent amount for a non-weightlifter (that practices weightlifting 5-6x a week). He can't do anything particularly athletic.
Have any of the crossfit haters read the first crossfit journal article? Please do and then explain to me how it does not measure physical fitness.
The only reason there is hate is because of how bad they look when they are running. Ill admit, it's very bad. But, everything else the top guys do is off the charts.
This guy is an ATHLETE just like Ashton Eaton but probably better....
NCAA Champion - check
World champion - check
Olympic champion - check
Beats other world / Olympic caliber athletes regularly - check
Can do any of crossfits workouts before he smashes someone - check
Is fitter than Rich Froning - Check
Can lift rediculous weight for his body weight - check
Can smash your boy and you at any time in any discipline bogus activity you make up - double check
To add insult to injury he is 30 lbs. lighter than your boy...

Off what charts? They don't compete in any events that are commonly tested. The reason why decathlon marks and to a lesser extent marks from things like the NFL combine, bobsled combines, etc. are valued is because they have stood the test of time and the events have been contested by some of the greatest athletes of all time.
Testing speed, power, and endurance through these events means you can make meaningful comparisons to other athletes and eras. Everyone that has ever been 'fast' in any sport has at some point competed in a 100m race. Everyone has trie to see how far and high they could jump. People see how fast they can run a 1/4 mile or mile in, whatever. Crossfit ignores these tests because it exposes how bad their athletes are by comparison.
Go through a decathlon, NFL combine, bobsled combine, whatever. There isn't a test, except perhaps full clean (that's in the bobsled combine), that Froning would even be competitive in versus most other athletes. If you cannot jump or run or do anything commonly used to describe athletic, how can you call yourself fit? And when I say run, the man cannot sprint or run long distance. He essentially is incapable of competing in one of the most basic human activities--bipedal motion. The man cannot break 60 seconds in a damn 400. That is just atrociously bad.
Crossfit chooses random criteria because it makes people feel good. They will never do a generic 5k or mile or 100m dash or vertical jump or 1 rep max deadlift or bench because it would expose how poor their competitors truly are. When your best guys are 5'9" and can't run a 60 second 400, you know there are some real problems with your testing methods.

All the U-23 relay pool team from my club (10.3 to 10.7 range) who are into weight training, myself included, would whoop him badly on the track, on the weight room AND even on crossshit. And there's plenty more out there (not even close to elite) from various sports that would.
Then why don't they (you)?
Is $250,000 not worth it to you?
Also, I'll be the first to admit; Jonathon Burroughs would be a top crossfitter and would probably win the games with a few months of crossfit specific training.

That dude is a badass. And you'll notice in the video, he shows himself training doing several movements used in crossfit...box jumps, plyo pushups, fast power cleans and push-presses.
