News Flash: OLN Fires Phil Liggett

I don't know about anyone else but one of the chief attractions for me in watching the tour is Paul and Phill's comentary. It just wouldn't be as fun without their over the top metaphores and random thoughts. Most of the time not too much is going on so they spice things up a bit.

Ok..first of all, you're an idiot Sir Lance-alot. I cannot believe you tried to reprimand his confused state of mind with total nonsense. To start, the reason why there are four Americans in the top 10 as of now is due to the Team Time Trial (Stage 4). Take a look back on any results from the past years and there is always a collection of riders from the same team who get catapoulted into the leaderboard but quickly fall out in later stages. If you want to argue that point effectively, you should've used REAL results, not results after stages. Even so, your arguements are unfound.

Secondly, unless you are European, which from the arrogant tone of your voice I doubt you are, you cannot make upsurd assumptions about the Eurpoeans bitterness towards Lance. And don't even think about using the arugement that the Europeans support random drug tests on only Lance. Thousands of European civilians line the street of the Tour every day to cheer on the riders, with whom they have a great amount of respect for each competetor, first or last place.

So if I were you, I would consider to start thinking with my head and not my rectal. Don't get me wrong, I like your patriotism, but don't act egocentric.

- Are all Europeans the same? (In terms of thought process, drug taking, etc.) Or are there actually MANY European countries comprised of many different types of people?

- How does one person saying that Brits have bad teeth (My idea of pathetically unoriginal American humor - your idea of "Brit Bashing") equate to a Euro-US divide? Or did you just mean that you saw one other person expressing his/her ignorance and you were determined not to be outdone?

- Could you please confirm that (aside from cycling- as you pointed out) the American sprinters, football players, and baseball players make the dirtiest European sports look like they are "squeaky clean"?

Or maybe NBC where we can watch a 15min story on some age grouper who did not earn their way into the race but won a lottery spot...oh that's the Ironman......sorry. of course everyone is happy that oln has daily coverage, and surely lance deserves more than the rest as he is the favorite and has ruled the event in recent years, but even the biggest lance supporter has to admitt that it is "the lance armstrong show", not "the tour de france".

on another topic, how is it possible that bob roll was a pro cyclist and is so stunningly uninformed on virtually everything from the rules of the race to how to pronounce rider's names? actually, bad question... the right thing to ask is why oln would have hired such a moron? surely jonathon vaughnters (sp?) must be availible, his articles in cycle sport were smart, interesting, and well written, nothing like the idiotic babbling about how kick ass team discovery is at the "tour DAY france" which we currently put up with. anyone who likes this guy either knows nothing about cycling, or should go back to watching nascar.

That's really funny. I love the month of July because that's when I can watch and listen to Phil and Paul for 3 hours everyday. Best commentators ever.

I can't decipher whether you are a mature grown-up man or a stuck-up teenager who attempts to sound intellectual when rebutting arguements, but regardless, you fail profusely. Sir Lance-Alot, I must say, if shooting down other people's statements is like shotting fish in a barrell, you do a pretty good job shooting yourself in the foot.

In respect to American's dominating the Tour, you primarily used the arguement that "four out of the top nine in the overall standings are American". Apparently blinded by ambiguity and/or total idiocy, one would understand the reason for this placement. Therefore, I used the Team Trial rebute to argue against your statement. By suddenly throwing in histroical facts about previous American Tour riders, you are introducing a totally separate arugement which, ironically, does not help your cause.

Lastly, I would just like to verify that most of the confusion is the direct result of Sir Lance-Alot's ignorance on the sport altogether. Using a running board to justify the mental state of your mind really is not the most appropriate course of action to take, especially when most of your questions are answered with a lack of expertise and adroitness.
