1. Threads with a lot of pages means a long scroll through page numbers just to get to the first comment.
2. A better way to collapse or control quotes in a thread because it gets annoying after the 10th nested quote box

All comments you provided are useful but I like this idea. I’m thinking of how I could use matching algorithms between shoes to find nearest neighbors — might be useful to sort and filter. Technically this would take work but it’s feasible and something we’ve considered in past.

All I want really is for the bottom ads and page navigator to stop showing up on top of the bottom few messages within the threads.
A "like" button on the boards
the mobile experience is awful on the boards, esp on the longer threads.

Good idea, then we can have anonymous registered trolls.
Paid subscriptions to remove ads.
Don't change anything else.
Don't copy, lead.
Use Riot. (riot.im). Yes, there would be a bit of complexity with sign-ups, but we can talk.
Please don’t change letsrun. ?
I love it just the way it is.

Two suggested improvements:
Have a way to easily see all replies on a certain post (like 4chans setup, post numbers quoting a post are shown near the header and you can mouse over them to see)
Virtual reality integration
Quite a few people referencing 4chan as an ideal model. That's probably not a great sign for the sort of people you're attracting to your site.
I would love a ban on political posts and some sort of system that would weed out actual hate speech. Being associated with this site is rising to 4chan levels and you might be losing the moderates and running fans because of it.
I don't care about the formatting

Would you care to define hate speech? Let me guess, any speech you don't agree with?
Leave it as is!
Open up an API for customizations as developers / LRs see fit!

I'd leave it alone but for one thing...
Better nav/pagination on huge threads like the Trump thread. I don't need to see a link for every page. Just 1, 2, 3....2498,2499, whatever. The list of page links is too long! Who wants to jump to page 1,342 anyway?

For the simplest implementation (3A), you don't even need to do that. Right now if I input a bunch of attributes and there are zero exact matches, the search will return zero matches. So you could start by changing the search algorithm to return closest matches in addition to exact matches (and tell the user where the differences are). That would be useful already. Then, instead of having the user input all the attributes, you could just make a shortcut that allows the user to simply input the shoe, have the web form retrieve the attributes of the shoe from the database to populate the search, and then perform the search. Then maybe the user could play around with some of the attributes later. (You'll also want to figure out how to deal with shoes that have only cosmetic differences).
Like a crude implementation would have a standard distance metric (like the centered and weighted sum of squares) and then show the ordered results. Then you can improve the algorithm as you come up with better ideas. You don't have that many shoes so you don't even have to worry about speed.
3B is tougher for sure but I'm thinking it might eventually give better results.
Change mod policies on political threads. I would prefer none allowed, but since it's obvious that isn't going to happen, I would prefer that "both" political types are allowed to create topics without getting them deleted.
Erik, I like the main forum as is, but here is one improvement. On other forums I'm on, I have the ability to edit my comment for 90 seconds after I post. That way, if I see a typo, I can correct it.
It would also be nice to have an app for the message board.
I would like to see a registration only forum added where runners would be required to provide their real names to LetsRun, but they could use a handle to post. No one without a registered handle could post in this forum. This would allow those of us with a serious question who don't mind letting like-minded runners know who we are to post questions and get answers. Alternately, these threads could appear on the main forum, but anonymous posters would not be able to post on these threads.
I don't mind juvenile high school humor occasionally, but let that stay on the main board.

I'm not a bad person grrrrrr
I doubt you've ever been on 4chan. I also honestly wouldn't care if the normies left
