holy crap who the hell cares what someone does with a flag???? Saying there are strict guidelines for how you can treat a flag, a piece of cloth for crying out loud, is insane. It is the height of hypocrisy to see we are a nation that cherishes freedom and then to say that the very symbol of that freedom - our flag - is beyond the liberty of this nation's citizens. Fly it high, fly it upside down, burn it, sleep in it, sneeze into it, use it as a scarf toilet paper. how cares?!?! anyone has a problem with this is the type of person who has no idea what it means to truly be patriotic, they merely know how to post their egotistical nationalism in public.

Move the blue field with the stars to the middle of the flag. Then you can't hang it upside down.

Yeah, the last I heard, a lot of people were of the opinion that worshiping graven images (aka "the works of their hands") was a bad thing to do.

But maybe that doesn't apply to the things they *want* to worship--or, perhaps more accurately, want others to worship.

Humans should not worship the works of their hands. I don't salute, pledge allegiance to, stand up for, uncover my head for, sing for, or otherwise show worship or obeisance for pieces of cloth, however pretty they may be.

The US Army wears the flag in reverse on the right shoulder of their combat uniforms. It's because the Army felt the flag should go on the right shoulder, and it's a forward moving (as opposed to retreating) army so the flag had to reflect that. It looks funny though.

My only issue with this is it's an internationally recognized distress signal to fly the flag upside down. That shouldn't be diluted.
