I will as well. But I dont think the result tomorrow will really be a reflection of this work out. The preparation is done. It's time to race.
GO ARROYO!!!
So many coaches do something like this for (so called sharpening) before a big workout. It is a stupid time to do a workout like that. Periodization goes from general to specific, not long to short. 150s should be done earlier in the season. At this point, a hard 1000 (2:25), or maybe 3 x 800m in 1:58 - 2:00 or maybe 2 sets of 4 400s in 58 - 60
That is specific to his race - the mile. not full 150s.
I do not fully agree as I have found this type if work helpful before a meet. But if you watch the video I just linked to he says that one of the workouts he will do in preparation is a 3x1000 workout. So he is doing endurance/speed endurance as well.

Is that a video? There's just a blank space.

A better workout this late for an 800/1500 guy would be 600-800m steady state mile pace + 15 seconds followed by 5x150 medium rest a second.5 under 800 race pace or about 17.5-18. The time trial sprint is overkill, he's not going to be running at 35/48 pace at any point in his race. Time trials are better earlier in the season at the beginning of speed work.
Now, if he's a 400/800 guy thats different, this would be a good workout.
A single 35 followed by speed taps more of lactic/glycolitic power rather than capacity, something more useful in 400m/400h specialists. If he's looking for power, just do the 150s or 100's with more reps or or 100/200's with less which targets special lactic speed capacity essential in 800m racing, and useful as speedwork/kickpractice for 1500m.
1500/800m guys need capacity in their speed work, especially if their PR is 48 and based on his 3200/mile.
A 37.5 would be a better pace for this workout rather than 35 IMO. He's still a teenager afterall.
Actually, the only thing this workout taps is neurological coordination, which is why it is a sharpening workout done before a peak race, intended to elevate leg power and coordination.
Just a few hours to go woohoo.
Woohoo!!!
Arroyo ran a similar race as he did at NIN.
I hope he takes another shot in good weather.
He'll learn to run high profile meets in college
This is far from the last of Andres Arroyo
Someone has to get to his coach. The kid is well too good to be running 4:08 in 8th place. He had him in 1:47 shape early in the year and now he has him doing full out 150m reps right before the Dream Mile.
There are a lot of these coaches in colleges and high schools that don't know what they are doing.
Take a look at the two WOW workouts.
Saarel does the proper type of workout.
Arroyo does not
and the results tell the story.

Not sure it is a training issue. The guy ran unopposed all year and in the two races with guys of equal ability couldn't put together a finish. That's probably the bigger issue he has to deal with.
i predicted arroyo would struggle due to weather being ~30 degrees below anything he's experienced since march.
florida runner in cold weather = slow
I don't see why the cold weather relative to Florida wouldn't have been an advantage.
Arroyo might be kinda tired from this season, which should be expected coming from someone his age.
I think he's either tired or not used to equal level competition (which he'll get plenty of in college, though I hope does the 800). Cool weather shouldn't have hurt him (dont know about the rain).
