Lochte is 6'2" and in very good shape, so 12.5 seems obvious, if he worked on his start and knee lift he could do 11.5.

14 flat. Maybe 13.5 if lucky. Bulky dude who swims. I don't think the majority posting realise how 'fast' 12.5 actually is in the scheme of things. Maybe for us in the running world 12.5 isn't the fast but the rest 12.5 is pretty damn quick. Lochte might be an Olympic champ, but he isn't a runner.
as a high school track coach I have seen alot of swimmers do well at events ranging from the 100 to the mile at my school, this probably doesnt translate to the professional level but the 100 & 200 records (10.95 & 22.0) were set by a 6'3 state finalist in the backstroke and the 4x100 team was composed of 3 swimmers including the aforementioned record holder. the swim coach encourages track as a way to stay in shape and alot of them are solid 400 guys who can step on the track and run 54 or better after the grueling conditioning of swim season.
