I would recommend these:

Comfortable and would take your insoles if you want.

http://theprimalprofessional.com/I wear NB minimus in the hospital. I am no minimalist when it comes to running, but need them for being on my feet all day. Lots of my colleagues swear by Danskos. I tried them but hated them.
Chaco makes some nice shoes now; they used to just do sandals. Very supportive, very comfortable. I would second the 2000s and Adrenalines, adding that the Brooks Addiction is even more supportive and cushioned than the Adrenaline, and also comes in all black, as well as a black with a synth-leather.
Compression socks, and throw some Superfeet in whatever you wear.
Look, don't take advice from other people about whether your shoes should be cushioned, minimalist or whatever. It's whatever works for you and your feet and people will have different experiences.
Personally I find I have to have cushioned shoes otherwise I get a lot of pain in the ball of my foot, but that's just me and it might not work for you.
Unfortunately it's a bit of trial and error sometimes.
Get the Brooks Addiction or the adrenaline. The Addiction works best for flat feet and standing all day. The still support will help give your arch and feet a break and the good cushioning will help with the soreness.

$330 a pair...someone failed the BSG in their business college capstone.
Vivobarefoot makes a few all-black shoes that can be worn for work, if you want to go minimalist.

Battlestar Galactica? I loved that show.
The New Balance 993 is one of the most comfortable, versatile running and walking shoes ever made. It was originally a running shoe, and still has a very dedicated (or perhaps obsessed) core of people who refuse to wear anything else. It is now sold as more of a lifestyle shoe. I wear them for walking everywhere, and they are totally comfortable, even for a long time. They are also made in the USA.

i definitely plan to run before work
I like these:
so should i put my superfeet into the shoes i buy? because superfeet arent really cushioned or soft. they're more firm
thoughts? im thinking of going with the brooks adrenaline. is a regular running shoe the best thing to buy to stand?
I highly recommend you check out Merrell. I tried on a pair of their clogs, and I could not believe how comfortable they are. The best part of my morning is putting my feet into those shoes and knowing I get to wear them at work all day. I think they are recommended by doctors for people returning from foot injury or surgery.

I don't see how Superfeet would do you any good if you are just standing, but personally I dislike Superfeet and firm inserts anyway, so I may not be the right person to give you an opinion. I would go with the insole the shoes come with and give it a couple of weeks. If your feet are hurting from standing after some time to adapt, then I would try a soft gel insert for a bit more cushioning.
so ive been wearing brooks adrenalines for work the past month. they're ok and my actually legs dont feel too bad. i wear compression socks during my shift. but my hips are KILLING me. they feel so achey. this might not be the shoes but its really depressing how crappy i feel standing in my hips. feet hurt a tiny bit every once in a while. im wondering if i should get a more cushioned non running shoe? what are your thoughts on the adrenaline for my needs? can anyone recommend something else that might alleviate the hip pain? i stand on a gravel/concrete.
I've found the biggest factor for me when I have to stand is not having any heel to forefoot drop. If my shoes have any heel at all, then my knees are bent slightly and my quads are actually doing a tiny bit of work to keep me up.
That said, my feet do get sore if I'm walking all day in driving loafers or something. A little structure isn't a bad thing.
Rancourt makes loafers that don't have any heel at all. I've almost stopped wearing my higher end shoes because I find the Rancourts so unbelievably comfortable. Here's a version in black:

. The soles are pretty flexible, so you'd probably want to throw Superfeet insoles in them.
If you wanted to spend the extra bucks, you could order Nike ID shoes in all black.

The Lunarglide 4 is about the most cushioned shoe out there short of Hokas.
