Me either. But I have learned to live with it. I am bigger than that. Literally.

The hate and vitrol is a result of the attitude crossfitters have towards anything that is not crossfit. They're like the jehovia's witnesses of exercise and fitness.

I've never seen a runner troll the Crossfit forums.
Running until the tears dry up isn't going to improve your self esteem.

That's a pretty appropriate analogy. The powerlifters and bodybuilders hate Crossfitters as much as the runners.
Crossfit is the ultrarunning of weightlifting. Why do things well, when we can just do things poorly but for a longer time?
you guys realize that the OP is a self hating runner that is trolling as a pretend xfit person in order to get you to get your running shorts in a bunch and post?

You have probably never stepped into a crossfit or regular gym. Otherwise, you'd probably be enlightened and incorporate some crossfit aspects of training methodology (e.g. crossfit style sprint repeats) into your training.
The "crossfit aspects" of training are the ones that make it retarded. Olympic lifting is great. Deadlifts are great. Interval training is great. Those things have always been great. But doing those things "the crossfit way" (aka with terrible form or for a stupid amount of reps as fast as possible) is not.
I'm modifying my opinion of the whole CrossFit thing.
Joggers get the bronze, albiet a distant bronze. Crossfit can take silver, because chances are that the smart Crossfitters are doing better than the smart joggers (or "sloggers", if you're an idiot).
Real runners, anyone who's been through a halfway decent high school program or any college program at all, get gold, obviously. They run mileage, they do intervals and tempos, do core work, and most of them probably even suck it up and actually lift now and then. If you don't do all of those things, you aren't a real runner.
I would even accept, if someone complained, that joggers can be runners, and runners will then be something better than runners, like Super Runners. Because I don't know of any Olympians (Super Runners) who have no muscle definition, or extra fat.

You can argue (wrongly) that Crossfit metcons produce good endurance, but the fact is that the only type of running you can do after 21 kettlebell swings and 12 pullups is this: slow.
Watch the youtube videos of people with WR times in Helen. They are running very slow. Some might call it ... slogging.

Do you even know anything about training? Intervall training (like 800's or 1200's) and crossfit style sprint repeats are totally different. Or in other words (maybe that helps you understand), they have NOTHING in common. Repeat after me.
Xfitguy_the_real_one_1: Why do you post on these boards?
The hypocrisy on this forum is just maddening! I am a distance runner who does Crossfit twice a week, and I can't believe the misconceptions I read on this thread.
1) Crossfitters hate anything that is not Crossfitting.
What? I have been doing CF for almost 2 years and I've never heard any negative comments about other forms of fitness. To me, it seems like the hardcore "letsrunners" hate anything that's not running.
2) Crossfitters use terrible form.
Completely untrue. I had to complete a month of intro classes to learn the proper technique. Every workout is monitored by a trainer who critiques your form and stops you if you do it incorrectly. Why would they want you to get hurt?
3) Crossfitters pay $200+/month.
I pay $90. And I don't live in a cheap area. I guess it's different for different gyms.
4) Crossfitters are shallow gym rats who like looking at their biceps in the mirror.
I have never been to a CF gym with mirrors. CF is the anti "Look at my biceps in the mirror" gym. The people at my gym are normal, working people who just want something different to get in shape. They are down to earth and ego-free. It's family-friendly and a supportive community.
Why so much animosity from runners toward CF? I run 4 days/week and do Crossfit 2 days/week. I have gotten faster, my posture has improved, my body is more balanced in terms of strength, etc. Plus, it's fun! Maybe my CF gym is the exception... but what I see described as CF on this site is not anything I've ever experienced.
What are these "magical" crossfit sprints then? How many people think that crossfit guy is also hobbyjogger?

A converted 15min 5k is a hobbyjogger, it's not my profession, I admit that.
I have a long thread on these board about crossfit style sprint repeats, I am not going to rewrite everything. Use the forum search function.
I meant the OP not that you are a "hobby jogger" my bad. I think you should post a typical week of your training for us.

1. I think most people just want a workout, but there are enough True Believers (*cough* Xfitguy *cough*) to make the whole community look bad. Heck, on Crossfit's main FAQ it says that Crossfit is superior to bodybuilding for building muscles! And of course, Xfit guy comes here and says that Crossfit is superior for running speed than running against all reason and evidence.
2. It's true: Crossfitters have terrible form. Go to an olympic weightlifting forum or a powerlifting forum and get their opinion about Crossfit. Just because a coach paid $1000 to get his level 1 doesn't mean that he's experienced and knowledgeable about powerlifting, olympic weightlifting, and other movements. And we all know about Crossfitters' running form!
3. Your box is cheap. The box I used to go to charges $160 per month for 3 classes per week:
http://crossfitprovidence.com/start-here/memberships/4. That's why all the guys workout with their shirts off and the girls wear short shorts, job bras, and knee socks.
I do a bit of Crossfit and my experience is much like yours.
I feel the people who run Crossfit cause a lot of problems with all their "Fittest on Earth" baloney along with their mountains of propaganda about their way being the best and that you'll be able to do things like run marathon PR's on nothing but Crossfit and a few runs a week. They're a virtual mis-information machine. It hurts their credibility.
Crossfit is really nothing more than a bit of exercise...put together in a slightly different way...
I find it fun.
