16:30 at Holmdel is well under 16:00 on a flat course. Consider that Cheserek ran just under 15 there and he's one of the all-time best prep XC runners, has a sub-14:00 5k the same year, etc.

Knock NJ and the results all you want, but CBA is the team that won NXN last year. You can say that wouldn't qualify for your state meet till you're blue in the fact, but they have a good shot at winning NXN again this year.
They don't really have to recruit. If parents think their kids are or could be fast runners, they send them to CBA. It's a positive feedback loop

Am I supposed to buy into the fact that 16:30 is good? A team of 16:30 guys would not come close to qualifying for many state meets, let alone win.
16:30 is very very impressive for holmdel. Their first guy ran 16:18 at holmdel, but 15:19 at their conference course. Their second guy ran 16:22 at Holmdel and 15:35 at the conference course. If at team of 15:30 guys doesn't even make the state meet, then you must live in a very fast state.
Lets also remember there top 5 for real ran 1600 at holmdel
