Perhaps Dick Buerkle. He went from 4:28 PR in high school to 3:54.93 PR -- a 33 second improvement. He was running over 10:00 for two miles in high school and went on to run 8:26.2 to beat Prefontaine by 7 seconds over two miles in 1974.
According to this story below, Roger Bannister went from a high school PR of 4:52 to a career PR of 3:59.4 -- a 52 second improvement.

The article is quoted correctly, but just a minor correction (of the article) - Bannister ran 3:58.8 later in the season, beating Landy in the process. Although it was not his first race under 4 minutes, and not the world record (since Landy had run faster by that time), he doesn't always get due credit for his real PR.
On a personal note, I have long held it as a goal to run under 4 minutes in the mile, while not having run under 5 minutes in high school. My drop from 5:07 to 4:14ish (so far) is a considerable drop, though admittedly I was hindered by injury in high school.
