I intend to, so I'd say yes.

Really they should go out slower than 2:03 pace. The guy runs way better if he can relax slightly and pick it up for the last few.
G. Mutai in training coaches Dennis Kimetto, Jafred Chirchir(a 2:05 marathoner in 2011) and a host of other upcoming athletes. All these guys look upto him as a mentor. For now G. Mutai still calls the shots but eventually someone from the group will dethrone him in terms of best performance. I believe Mutai arranged for Kimetto to run Berlin. The intention is likely for him to run alongside Mutai. If the pacemakers do a good job, then Kimetto will be there to accompany Mutai in the later stages of the race. If pacemakers are too slow, Mutai can signal Kimetto to take over pacemaking. It looks to me that G. Mutai is going for nothing short of the World Record and Kimetto is part of the plan. Another side of this is that Jonathan Maiyo and Geoffrey Kipsang are too very strong athletes, both trained by the great Renato Canova. Mutai has not forgotten Boston 2011 where a debutant(Moses Mosop)from that Renato Canova group ran him to the line, with both of them running the first and second fastest ever recorded time in the marathon history. Kimetto might be there to help his friend Geoff to test the other two with surges. Will all wait and see. But one thing is for sure. G. Mutai and D. Kimetto will run as teammates and not each other's competition.

So you're only supposed to train with people slower than you?
Where is the newcomer to Canova's Abel Mutai / Jonathan Maiyo group, Ishmael Busendich, racing his next marathon?
Renato guaranteed he'd run a 2:04 in a LR post before the Olympic marathon.
Ah found it, finally. Translated by ghost from a French magazine I think? (thanks ghost):

"Aside from Abel Kirui, Moses Mosop, Wilson Kipsang - which other runners are you looking after?
Abel trains with Jonathan Mayo who can run 2.04'56' - compared to before arriving in the group when he could only run 2.12'. We also have Gilbert Kirui, and several runners in the 2.06' - 2.07' time frame. David Barmasai and Robert Cheruiyot. We also have a new runner - Ismael Bushendish. I am sure he will run 2.04' in his first marathon. We do not select runners. We don't need to go to the competitions to select runners. The best ones have friends, and they come training with us, and that is the best way to see what they are worth."
Busendich has already run 2:09 in his debut marathon, maybe Renato didn't know that, or it's an older interview, I don't know. But the Running Times feature on Canova marathon training had a sidebar on the newcomer Busendich - said he just showed up without asking and managed to complete 2/3 of Abel Kirui's tough workout at Kirui's pace.
was in Iten this year, saw Bushendish in a track session with Abel, it was noted at the time that Bushendish did not have the same endurance as Abel just yet, but was capable of completing 80% of Abel's sessions.
in regards to Maiyo, he's known as 'the fastest kenyan nobody's heard of' as he is literally treated as an unknown in Iten, will definitely be out to prove himself, wouldn't be surprised if he challenges Mutai.
Has Mutai completed service in a U.S. front-line offensive combat infantry outfit ?
