Beyond Eugene, who else cares about this extended soap? Vin let her run that double in 2011, and Eugene went gaga. TrackFactory USA did little for Hasay. She could have gone to a D3 school and run as well.
This is a cautionary tale for elite high school runners: do not let yourself get sucked in by schools like Oregon.
Jordan Hasay was a remarkable young athlete in high school. I wish she had continued her education somewhere else.

Jordan is good, but I think there are girls who are more likely to win nationals this year than she is, and teams more likely to win than Oregon's. Also, I continue to be confused about the disproportionate number of threads about her as compared to her peers, like Flood for example.
Do you have selective reading problems? Did you not read where I wrote that the rankings that you are so dependent on rate Oregon higher than all of the Cali schools in some areas? And vice versa.

And no, SAT scores have nothing to do with the academics. SAT scores are only a measure of the student body, not the academics. Physics is the same at every school.
people have no idea what an inspiration Jordan Hasay is for younger female runners. I worked at Footlocker last year and literally 50% of the girls there listed 'Jordan Hasay' as their favorite runner in a fun little questionaire we had them fill out.
Obviously "PAC12running" has not been at enough meets to recognize the popularity of a Jordan Hasay.
Jordan has a demeanor unlike any other runner in today's world. She's always smiling, she's serious, she's friendly, she's competitive, she's focused, she's humble, she's gracious, she's funny, she's a great interview, she has an ubelievable personality, and she can RUN! All this in one package.
THAT is what differentiates Jordan from the rest of the field. THAT is why she gets the publicity and most of the media attention my friend.

I still think she should have gone to Stanford. She had a ridiculously high GPA in high school, and probably would have been fine academically at Stanford while running just as well.

Why do you think that? Doesn't Oregon have a much better history with successful runners in college and post college? Seems like she made the smart choice
What nonsense to say that UCLA, USC, Berkeley, and Stanford comprise four of the top ten academic research facilities in the world. Don't be a snob. Hasay is a student studying at a major state university, getting good grades, and by all accounts I have seen, is a remarkable young woman. I'll guess she is a superior student to nearly all football and basketball athletes enrolled at any of those purported world top ten research institutions in the PAC 12 in California. I speak from both sides of the fence: I graduated from a second rate state college and have a Masters from an Ivy League university.
Hasay made XC and track cool again for females? When was it uncool, and why was it Hasay who made it cool again? I guess I missed a few of the "uncool" years. I think it is sad that she made the finals of the Trials as a high schooler and not as a junior in college. That didn't look fun. That is uncool. There are many amazing runners out there, and if you like one in particular, great. However, to hang the existence of track on one woman is ridiculous.
Hasay was a rock star. She wore things no other female athlete could wear back then. Those hot little bun huggers. Sighs...
Half the guys on my college XC team are still in love with her.
As a young prep, she made an error and should have chosen to attend a world class university such as Cal Tech, various University of California campuses, Southern California, or Stanford. But Jordan Hasay is a California girl. We love seeing her back home in San Luis Obispo, and at meets such as the Mt Sac Relays, and Stanford Invitational.

Oregon is not a second rate state school. It is world class. Yes, even the annual rankings say that it's better than all of the Cali schools depending on the subject.
