Everyone watch that race video. Luke is the next big guy on the USA roads scene. He got after it and obliterated every elite veteran on that list except for the 12:56 Olympian Tegenkamp, who he was only 15 secs back of. He got after it right from the gun and lead all the way. I can see him taking the USA 13.1 record in the next 2 years.

You have to give the young guy a lot of credit for going hard and making it a race. Tegankamp did his usual sit and kick b.s. I'm surprised Nike hasn't signed this guy. They probably tried to low ball him and he decided to show them what he's got. I think his price just went up.

Teg won this race without even trying? Incredible talent.
He's just a guy who's been to the Olympics and is a national champion. You wouldn't be just a tad jealous now, would you?
You're pathetic. Teg has always run in the way that he feels like will result in the best placement at the end of the race. This has resulted in him winning a couple national titles, amongst other races. Not bad for a guy who never won an NCAA individual title to make two Olympic teams.
Teg went after it in the State xc meet as a junior and blew up and got ran down by 3 guys in the home stretch. He learned his lesson then and has run smart ever sense.

I don't like the way they start the 5K and the 20K at the same time at this race - it can be very confusing to those of us in the hobby jogging community. Particularly since the starting locations are more or less right next to each other albeit on different streets.
I watched the race video. However, the best was the video of Patrick Smyth's tribute speech to Ryan Shay. I'm not ashamned to say, I actually got choked up.
The 5k starts behind the 20k and runs in a completely different direction than the 20k. They all finish across the same finish line. the real debate is, should there be a cut off time for the 5k?
I mean, over 1 hour for a 5k? really?

While I agree with you that Puskedra seems to be doing a good job showcasing himself, I think you're totally off-base with the assessment of Tegenkamp. He's not typically a road racer, and 20k is certainly a much longer race than he's used to. He ran a smart race and finished well when he needed to. Hell, two or three years ago it seemed crazy to think he would run a 10k, much less 20. Smart racing, not bs.
