That's like 9.9 minutes/mile. I'm "impressed."

Looks like probably Nick Clark for 3rd and Anton for 4th. He must've really blown up hard here. It looks like Aish dropped? It doesn't confirm it, but he hasn't had a split in awhile. Winfield to Twin Lakes took Anton 52 minutes, whereas Aish took 3:23. Shows what happens when you're cocky in a high altitude trail 100...

Aspen and CU represent!!! Zeke is a stud and a solid dude!
Tina Lewis first female in the 2012 Leadville 100 in 19:33:44.98. Nice job.
I want to save this result for all the people who tell me women are better than men at longer distances. No, no they aren't.
Paula was better than me by a long shot. But...yeah.

Tim Waggoner finishes in 11th in 20:12:35.96, takes the Leadman Title.
Finisher's List:
From what I can tell, Michael Aish dropped somewhere around Twin Lakes and Half Point, which would be 60.5-70.9 miles.
From Michael:
"No buckle for me. Had a go, blew myself apart and can't walk now. A big thanks to everyone, it's a great event and the people are magic." Retweeted by iRunFar
Interesting ... sub 28:00 10K guy 13:2x 5k and 1:03:00 half marathon was humbled by this race.
Hmmm .... one would have thought that he would'a destroyed the "hobby joggers" by hours. Hmmm ... does anyone find this peculiar, seems to be outside of the lr.c accepted line of thinking.
It would be great if one of the brojos were to take on Leadville as a challenge both as a personal and journalistic challenge. ??? Bros? ;-)
I know a couple of the top 20 finishers, one has finished as high as 2nd at Leadville. I will just say that the two guys that I know have a different kind of endurance and a different mindset than 10k - marathon runners. They slip into a comfortable/sustainable pace and just keep going, never letting their egos and testosterone suck them into a pace that they are not able to sustain resulting in a DNF. These two guys are both very bright, one has a Master's and the other a Ph.D. logic and reason guide their training. They simply switch into a low gear, zone out and grind out the miles. One will humbly say that he is not a good athlete, but simply applies discipline and sound endurance training to achieve results.
Well I would humble that Frenchie in an 800m.
Uh, the top ultra runners DNF and blow up all the time. It's part of the sport.
And Aish is well past his prime. It was always silly to act like his PRs were relevant to this race, because, well, he's not the same runner he was years back.
would rather have those PRs than be the best at "running" ridiculous distances over crazy terrain. races tell you who is the fastest. when the distances get this long and the courses so technical, it's more of a survival/luck/who doesn't bonk thing. IMO.

I hear that Uli is training for ultras. It will be a new era for the event.
Uli has been running ultras for years. In fact, in the past year or two, he has focused LESS on ultras than he did in the past. Maybe he will do them again in the future, but for now it's time to do some work in the masters category!

Think Aish could go under 30 in the 10k these days? That is, once he's able to walk again?
Aish ran 2:18 in 2009 so I really don't think sub 30 would be that much of a challenge for someone with his history, etc.
Correction: Aish ran 2:15 in 2009, and in 2011 ran 1:05:18 for the half marathon so yea, sub 30 would not be a challenge.
Yea that makes sense, have some modest PRs that place you in the top 50 in most of the competitive races around the world.
Or be the number 1 at another discipline.
Letsrun is full of a bunch of retards.
dur dur dur, I'd rather have the Heisman than make it to the NFL for special teams.
I'd rather have a national title than go the Olympics in the steeplechase.
None of you fools will amount to anything, all you do is trivialize other sports that aren't your own.

Ultramarathoning is a different sport
