that's bangalangadanga certified.
if he's at 2 to go at 4:59, he could go 1:53 his last 800. It wouldn't be easy, but he could do it.
it's getting late
5:29 at 2 to go.

Rupp can run a 12:58?
He just failed miserably to run a 13:41......
Jager would spank him in a flat 3k and steeple. Rupp is a 10k guy just like Pre, Pre was just a man and didn't let people sit on him and kick.
"Rupp is a 10k guy just like Pre"
When the hell did Pre run the 10k?

You are such a tool. Is the letter 'R' that tough to type? I hope Elmer Fudd finds you and shoots you in the nut$ with a gun. Then I hope he takes your stupid calculator, turns it sideways, and sticks it straight up your candy a$$.
Prefontaine owned American records from 2k to 10k at the time of his death, including:
10,000 meters 27:43.6 4/27/74, Eugene
If we're talking less than optimum pace, Morceli closed his 7:25.11 with a 2:23.xx last 1000 (and 54 sec last lap). He actually came through 2000m in 5:01.xx. Had he been rabbitted to 4:55 or 4:56 he could have run ~ 7:23.

shitty pacing
geb never got better than 4'56 ( komen had 4'53 ) & actually ran a 7'25/7'26 off a 5'01 !!!
isiah is obviously in big <<7'30 shape ( had 55 finish ) but wabbit sped off too fast at 28 & 59 & detached away
the gap remained, but wabbit slowed to 2'30, but chance of fast 3k gone as they weren't going to get even-paced 4'56/4'57 you need for 7'25 ( they were only aiming for 7'30 target which is poor )
2nd km was odd as longosiwa made a break but did nothing with it
if he'd still had peak strength he couda aimed for 7'26/7'27, but faded badly to 7'40
in effect, isiah ran a solo 7'30 with 55 finish
7:25 is a whole different league... Rupp will never get there!
it's not
Rupp will run 5 sec. faster than Evan Zager.

Mo will never run 12:41
If Rupp could run 12:58, he'd have been far more of a factor in the 5k at the Olympics.
Pre and Jager were/are 100x more consistent, there is no comparison.

He was a factor until the last lap. Just before the bell he made a nice move and was up front with Mo ready to bring it home.
Just didn't have the legs as he was too worn out from the 10k/5k prelims and finished 4-5 seconds behind Mo on the last lap. Rupp was fine aerobically in the race, especially given how comfortable and smoothly he moved up and was running.
The problem with running sub 7:30 is there's no room to dick around as is often the case in DL meets. Doha is the only DL meet where they don't dick around. Guys usually go sub 7:30 there.
That said the only person with a chance to break the AR in the 3k is German Fernandez. No one other American has the speed endurance required.
He would probably get beat by Jager

*Rabbit
Rupp could probably sneak under 7:30 in a real good race.
Jager could cut a second off his time if he cut that stupid bro haircut

Just saw the 3k results from stockholm and saw that Jager ran 7:35 and wondered this myself. Anyone think Jager could challenge rupp in a race over 1500m, 3000m or 5000m?
Right now, or when you posted to start the thread?
