47.45 is about where he should be at. I think I said in another thread that he'd run 47.47.
The formula I've always used is 2/3 of your 400 plus 1/3 of your 1500 will give you your 800 time.
Based off Nick's times of 47.45 and 3:36.06 it works out at 1:43.64 which is not that far off his 1:43.76PR.
Keeping this in mind, Rudisha off his 45.50 and 1:41.01 PR's it indicates that he should run around 3:32.03 for the 1500. Just shows you how good you have to be to run 1:41!
I don't think he is capable of a 3:32. He has a bit more speed than endurance. That is s decent formula for a more 800/1500 meter type runner.
But doesn't it put Coe closer to a 1:40 flat then?

Gray would have been lucky to run a 3:40 in his prime. 46 / 3:40
800 = 1:44.
Actually I think I did that incorrectly. Coe would be closer to a 1:40.32, so maybe it does work better for the 400/800 runner.
Gray ends up about .7 of a sec quicker than the formula indicates
So, actually it is pretty close.
Coe ran his 2:29.77 (86) PR a long time after running 1:41.73 (81), so I don't think his speed would have been the same, so it throws the calculation off a little. If you use his 3:47.33 mile you'd get a lot closer to his 1:41 at the time.
Johnny could run a 2:50 1200 in practice (Earl Jones did the same and ran 3:36.19), so I'm quite sure he'd be under 3:40 for 1500 if he ever ran a serious one. 3:37 doesn't seem that much of a stretch for him. I'm pretty sure he only ever ran 1 1500m and that was in the 3:42 range.

I bet he can as long as he's not running into a strong headwind. He's run 45.50 for 400, which purely from an equivalent performance standpoint would be worth a 10.25 or 10.26 for 100.
Rudisha can run ~10 100m w/ a ~5m running start, in racing flats.
Symmonds is probably ~10.2 w/ ~5m running start, in racing flats.
times from blocks don't much matter for these guys.
Why aren't there results yet?? High school meets have results up faster than this. How the heck can you stage a high level track meet and not even have live results or at least timely results?
1:44 to medal?!?!? do you have any idea who they might be racing? RUDISHA is going to win gold easy, then KAKI for silver, so SYMMONDS needs a really good race and maybe a PR to even medal for the bronze medal.

Yep. Destroyed in Monaco, and serious freak-out at the Adidas GrandPrix meet, where he dropped out right after 400 when Rudisha started to pull away. I'm not sure he's even a lock to make the final, considering how competitive the semi's will be.

2004: 1:44.45
2000: 1:45.08
1996 was a very fast race (winner ran a 1:42.58), but times have changed in track. I don't think we'll see a race like that come London.
If Symmonds and Solomon get through the rounds and are fully recovered, then a 1:44 should get them a medal.

Congrats Nick on your performance. I thought you would have to PR to medal I just didn't expect WR pace. I knew Radisha would drag a couple runners along but that was crazy fast. It's the era of the teenagers in 400m/800m speed events now I guess.
