Kim Gallagher's 2:00.07 and Ajee Wilson's 2:00.91 are both world class times. How many elite American women ran faster in 2011?

Now compare how many elite American women ran faster then 4:11.01. Ajee Wilson is world class and Mary Cain is a talented elite high school athlete trying to get where Ajee has been for 2 years- winning international Championships.

Ajee mark will be in the top 15 and Mary Cain's may make top 40 on the 2012 US women's year end list.

Letsrun and it's foolish posters don't have common sense to recognize which is more impressive like the rest of the track world!

How often have we had a woman World Junior Champion in a distance event? Never. We have never been very competitive at the world junior level (or senior level for that matter). Getting the HSR is all well and good, but clearly previous record holders like Hasay and Plumer are not currently competitive at the world level. Ajee Wilson is competitive at the junior level and has a good shot at being competitive in the future as she has proven by her multiple gold medals. That is a much bigger deal.

I am excited for Mary Cain's future however. She may very well break all the distance records, but she hasn't yet. She got sixth place. She lost by a 7 seconds.

Cain also crushed Gallagher's best high school 1500m time by 5.6 seconds and there are only four other high schoolers ever within 6 seconds of her time, while Wilson's still almost a second off of Gallagher at 8 (just over 2 s ahead of the sophomore Cain) and at least 12 runners are under 3 seconds off of her time (or better: Gallagher).

Did anybody even realize that Cain was spiked early in the race.. She could have gone even faster. She also ran in lane 2-3 for quite a bit of the race.

Retards Mary Cain time is so far from world class and Ajee Wilson is already world class.

Oh I see Africans (distance) and African Americans (sprints) dominate the sport you all love so much; therefore, you have to build up non Africans when you can.

That's a big difference....think if you asked someone if they rather be 14th fastest American or 20th? Every athlete who is ranked 20th in track and field would rather be 14th!

Let me know when Mary Cain ACTUALLY runs 4:09.69 the 14th fastest time among US female athletes like Ajee Wilson's 2:00.91.

I have asked this twice already. Is Ajee Wilson's gold the first ever in the distance events at World Juniors? I believe it is. In fact, I can't even think of any US distance runners who have medaled.
