runner's world comes out swingin' at let's run

The Facebook posting was not by a Runner's World person. I saw it and know who it was and see no reason to name him here but it was not a Runner's world person.

Which is just dumb. They're not trying to destroy competitive running. If you are an average person, you will learn much more about competitive running from a copy of Runner's World than you will from Sports Illustrated, ESPN, USA Today, or any other mainstream news publication.

Also, RW's sister magazine, Running Times, is targeted at competitive runners. Why would RW try to kill a sport that another Rodale magazine depends on?

There's a place for fitness jogging and a place for competitive running. If anything, RW is a gateway drug for hobby joggers who might want to get serious or at least learn about serious running.

Let's start rumors and fights with RW. If they come at us we can run away and we'll be faster because we have superior form.

I think more telling is that the first runner to start a rumor about (after Ryan Hall) was Josh Cox.

Yeah, I had a subscription to RW when I started running in grade 8. It has a lot of good basic info for beginners and just enough stuff on elites to get you more interested if that's your thing. I don't understand these people who have had a subscription for years though. They just cycle the same articles year after year.

wow, the responses here are way off base. the blog entry is simply making fun of something, it has absolutely nothing to do with bashing letsrun. it just happens that the facebook link was from letsrun; Mark would have written the article if it would have come from anywhere else (internet or not).

i've been following the blog (rw daily) for a couple years now because i think that it's funny. take a look at some of the other blog posts, they're all pretty good.

This was pretty good stuff. Notably, I thought the "Lolo Jones has agreed to pose nude for Playboy" followed with the "Nick Symmonds has agreed to pose nude for Lolo Jones" was especially well done.

I think trolls do serve a purpose on the Internet; it forces people to take their information with a grain of salt.

Too bad there are so many right wingers out there who don't believe in trolls.

Mark Remy is kinda a turd.

He writes the daily and thinks he's some sort of comedy writer. (when he's not schilling for his stupid book that he had to mostly give away) He is absolute terrible when it comes to comedy. I mostly avoid his stuff. The daily is a waste of space on the internet.

He also has kinda a thin skin at times too.

This is why a certain segment of the running population (and no, I don't mean RW readers) will never take the site seriously. Sure, you do some good work and are a nice source for certain things, but when the co-founder of this site backs a trollish rumor thread, you hurt your credibility as "journalists." That and your laughable writing skills.
