See and Leer didn't run the 1500, probably waiting for Saturday. Clark 3:39.11, Bayer 3:39.13, Rae 3:39.47, a couple of others in the 3:39's and several more in the 3:40's.
The only Olympics A (or anything all that impressive) so far has been the hot chick from Australia via Florida in the Steeple.
The fast Men's Steeple is still to go.
It looks like all the fastest runners scratched tonight and are waiting until Saturday to race.

Sorry, no. After the winning 9:41, there was a 9:47 (definite) and a pack in the 9:50's (I think).

In their defense, the "electronic noise" you heard was actually from the PA which was malfunctioning which is right behind the cameraman. The webcast, while lackluster, is the fault of these meets just not having the budget to do much. There were about 100-200 people in the stands for the meet.
Dan Clark is my hero. Guy was slaving away at a Big 4 accounting firm last year, putting in long hours and rarely finding time to run. Then he decided, "F*ck this. I'm going to move back to South Bend and give running another shot." Now he's beating big names in his first year back.

Good question. Where is there a descending order list for the 1500? It seems sub 3:40 isn't "automatic" into the trials like it used to be

But you also have to take into account runners who have better times from last summer that qualify for this year, and also runners who will not run the 1500.
Hmmm...looks like not many B standards will get in. There are 25 A standards on that list and the 1500m will have 30 entrants.
Guys with an A standard who will likely not run the 1500m:
Rupp
Lagat
Symmonds (Will probably still enter, as it's after the 800m)
Huling
Leslie? (Steeple?)
Guys who don't have an A standard according to that list but have one within the qualifying window (off the top of my head):
Wheating
Lomong
Leer
Soooo....that doesn't leave a whole lot of spots. Clark and Bayer's 3:39.11 and 3:39.13 might squeak in.

The A standard for 1500 meters is 3:35.50.
Only a handful of runners have the standard.
Wheating and Lomong do. Will Leer does not. Neither does Jordan McNamara. That is why Will is running in Indy on Saturday, and Jordan is running at Lane Community College Saturday night.
This has been discussed at length.
USATF and Olympic A standards differ.
If the trials were held today, there would be seven guys with a shot of making the team:
Centro, Manzano, Lomong, Wheating, Brown, Andrews, Torrence.
(Lagat and Rupp also have the standard, but neither is running the 1500.)
The only reason this thread exists is b/c guys like Leer and Webb are desperate for one last try at the standard.
Does anyone know if the meet at Lane CC in Eugene on Saturday was was cooked up to give McNamara a shot at the A standard?
(I bet arms are being twisted to get him the sort of rabbit he needs; I doubt Wheating or Brown want to tow him for the full 1500 meters. They have better things to do than run a fast race this close to the trials.)
