Correction. She ran a performance slower than ONLY Goucher and Davila in 2011! All others in front of her were times run prior to 2010.

True True. Didn't look too hard. Even so, this girl raced Philly 31 seconds slower than Davila raced her half earlier this year! For a girl brand new to distance running? I'm sorry, this says it all to me. Improvement curve, baby. I wouldn't want to put pressure on her of course, but I'd put money on someone like this. Maybe even more money than I'd put on some top stars ahead of her (by not so much), simply because of the fact that she is so new to it.
3rd in the WC 10k back in 2007 and then 10th in Beijing the next year, with real competition. I win. You lose...but bet the farm if you'd like.

The problem with most Americans is that the emphasis is in the wrong place.
High profile group? Looks like she'll soon have that without having to move an inch. Hate to break it to all you sleezballs out there trying to plant a seed, but sure seems like she got where she is now under the right guidance. If money is her reasoning, then I doubt these guys would want to keep her anyway.
My guess is that it wont be Krifchin moving on to a more high profile group, but rather the group she is with becomes the high profile group she needs, if it hasn't already after this weekend.

She certainly deserves some real financial support with a performance like 71:04. I've got to think she will stay with Stotan, seeing how successful she's been, but if the Stotan coaches and Nike have any sense of fairness, they'll compensate her appropriately for the level she's reached. A female running 71:04 deserves more than free gear and race entries...she should be making at least enough to pursue running full time after school for performances like that. That's still living humbly, for sure, but no reason a 71:04 woman shouldn't be paid 20-30k by Nike. It would be simply ridiculous to suggest a salary makes the living "less humble"...if you want a runner to reach her potential, make it possible for her to focus on running. This performance deserves a minimal salary, at least.
good points guarantee man, and a fairly obvious progression by most standards these days. as noted above, she’s not one of the ‘heavyweights’ yet by any means, but she’s on the map. we’ll see how it goes, as it is still very early with much to do ahead. things have been working well thus far.
while sr might not yet be a ‘high profile training group’ to use your words, we are progressing nicely and are certainly looking toward the future. i agree with you in that people should be fairly compensated in whatever their endeavor of choice, but running improvement is our priority right now, and all of our members are focused on this. meagan is a great kid, with a great attitude and work ethic. so far so good.

It is NYRR and other sources for support that should jump on board with Stotan Racing. I don't see them listed on the website. They support groups in the US. Maybe Nike will offer something to Krifchin, maybe not. Either way, the girl is on her way to a fine career. All it takes is one breakout performance. Keep it up

Yeah, sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I wouldn't expect the coaches to offer her "financial support." That's not what a coach is for, and would make no sense, and doesn't happen anywhere. Coaches don't pay athletes. However, as the organizers/leaders of the Stotan group, it is their responsibility to be in contact with Nike/sponsors about appropriate support amounts for their top athletes, Maegan specifically.
Stotan's done a great job with her, but the immediate feeling one gets from the Arises posts on this thread is that money is "not a concern." If they don't get in touch with Nike about fair compensation, they're not doing their job as heads of the program.
But yeah, they work hard and I was never saying they should pay her. I think everyone on earth knows that's not how the thing works.
Maegan is surely getting the direction she needs. If in fact with the Arises, she is in the best of hands. She will be taken care of financially when the time is appropriate, and Bill and John know what to do. Lets focus on supporting Maegan in her pursuit to race her best at the trials. Stay right where you are Maegan, and you will go far. Don't be like most others and look for instant gratification. Keep progressing, follow your coaches, and the payday will come. Good luck to you.

I will also be a fan. I met her and some of the stotan guys at the run into buffalo 15k. They were really very cool people and excited to talk running with whomever was around. They have a sort of group excitement that is exciting to be around and to cheer for.

Getting better? > Stay put.
Bring the support to YOU. Don't go elsewhere to find it. You'll make plenty more than you are now if you CONTINUE TO GET BETTER which Bill and Jon are clearly providing for you. This guarantee you have now is potentially disrupted if leave. Don't chase the money. Let the money find you. It will come.

What is your point here? That she improved significantly from a race run prior to joining Stotan? This race was in January of 2010, from the article.

All posted times slower than 71:04, and likely have contracts ranging from 30-100k (if not more) in some cases, less coaching percentage. This is separate from appearance fees, promotions, appearance fees, talks at clinics, etc.
