I like when people go out of their way to misunderstand a point that someone is making just so they have something to argue over. He didn't say that they only produce 80% of the power that is needed for the country. He said that they meet 80% of domestic power needs using nuclear power and that total power production is high enough to export the excess. The way that you have construed his point only makes sense if you assume that nuclear is the only power source used in France.

We in Britain are just as daft - but the crafty French built so many nuclear power stations, they not only supply 80% of that nations electricity needs with the cheapest electricity in Europe, they have enough left over to export, ironically to some countries that are opposed to nuclear power.

Mostly we're interested in being able to... you know... breathe in the future. Without glowing, that is. But if "you in Britain" or the "crafty French" have solved the problem of nuclear waste, please tell us what it is. In the meantime, if you come that close to having a Chernoybl incident as we did at TMI,, you'll think a little differently.
