Care to explain further? Are you implying that I am somehow bloodthirsty or went out of my way to run over deer? Do you have something against hunting? Sorry about your hang-ups, if in fact you are against hunting.
All humor aside and some points of clarification for you:
1) I grew up in a family of fisherpersons and hunters.
2) Every deer that was shot was used for food by me or my family.
3) 5 of the deer that were shot were on the land of local farmers where deer cause substantial crop damage.
4) Some of the meat was shared with the farmers.
5) Those killed by the car were accidental. I took the extra time to contact the local police to get a permit to keep them both. The meat from one was kept by me and used by my family. The other I gutted and delivered to a local food bank that accepts deer to be used to help provide food to those that will eat venison.
6) Deer strikes in the area where I live occur with alarming frequency. This has resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage, several injuries, and one fatality to a motorcyclist.
Good afternoon......
Rhesus monkeys. Euthanized them after performing heart sugeries to implant stents and examined architectural changes to vessel walls.
so far its been a really big cockroach, unless you count setting mouse traps as killing
One adult bracing you and another adult's hand on your pole? Heckuva trip, who pays your therapy bills?
It's the way you are bragging about killing a defenceless animal
If you are killing to eat it that's fine
'3) 5 of the deer that were shot were on the land of local farmers where deer cause substantial crop damage'

So what do you suggest exterminating all deer in the area?
Are you really shooting the deer becauase of the long list of excuses you racked up. Just admit you are a typical red neck who likes shooting and killing animals. I was a junior fishing champion I can understand the satisfaction from hunting, but I put them back and was just a kid then
I come from the countryside drive fast but have managed to avoid mowing down half the local wildife like you used to. Perhaps you could work on your driving skills or slow down a bit
Your thinking exterminated nearly all the birds of prey in the uk including ones like red kites which only feed on carrrion (they would be well fed on you driveway I doubt they could take off). This thinking belongs in the century before last
Back to what I said, bragging about shooting a defenceless animal, unless for food, is pathetic. If for food the bragging bit is still pathetic. Why not try taking a good photo of one that takes a lot more skill but the same type of stalking skills
Spare me. Here in the U.S. the overpopulation of deer is actual a pretty big problem in some areas, so it is likely that he was doing everyone and the deer population a favor. I don't really think he was bragging, anyway. The OP asked a question and he answered it. Hunting and fishing can be a great way to enjoy the outdoors, and its probably a hobby that he enjoys.
P.S. Please grow some balls.
Bigfoot - sorry to break it to you but I could not have kept the secret much longer. That is why he hasn't been seen lately.

Where do you think all the meat sold at supermarkets comes from? It's someone's job to kill all those defenceless animals.
Venison is great food, extremely healthy and a much better value than store-bought meats. The states rely on hunters to manage the deer population. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with legally hunting deer.
What constitutes bragging? The fact that I listed a number or the caliber of weapon? Caliber and type was referenced so that some persons with knee-jerk reactions would not accuse me of wounding deer with shot blasts and leaving them to suffer. Yes, the title of the thread is essentially about bragging so I ponied up a bit. And since your ideas differ from mine, you went on the attack.
When traveling at night in wooded areas at certain times of the year the deer bolt in front of you without warning. It has little to do with driving habits and more to do with population density. They are so thick that they starve in winter, eat shrubs along houses in residential areas, and many municipalities have 2 controlled hunts every year to cull the herd. The deer have eliminated habitat for other wildlife in the expansive national park nearby due to browsing away underbrush and other growth. They are spreading lyme disease as well. It is different than in the UK, you would not understand unless you were here.
Based on two posts you know I am a redneck? Wonderful, you actually seem more bigoted and narrow minded than you think I am. You certainly are more quick to make a personal attack. I have never been to the UK but if I ever do go there the first thing I will do is whack a few hawks. Since I have never done so here I would rather do it in your country.
I fish much more than I hunt and release any large fish due to the quantity of eggs they produce and due to potential for more built up chemicals in the meat. I release any game fish and keep the medium and smaller ones for food. I care not to have too many hormones in the diets of my children nor myself.
The fact that you are trying to work up my ire is not lost on me. But your arguments and points have little substance and are based on assumptions. Wildlife photography is actually one of my hobbies and I am quite skilled. And you can spout all you want with regard to the stereotypes of hunters and fishermen that you so gullibly believe apply to me or any other hunter for that matter. But the fact is most hunters and fishermen are also conservationists and do more for the preservation of the environment and generation of funding from licenses and associated expenses than you or the general public realize.
Good day.....
I would like to reveal the truth, but I can't discuss it on this forum.
You sound like you need to release some of your pent up anger on the local wildlife
In you 1st post you were bragging, just admit it
Now at least I understand that you are putting lead between their ears for their own benefit
You've shot all the predators that's why the deer need culling! Now relax your knickers you seem ok

You are, however right that without hunters a lot of those envirmoments would not exist
Some American hunter came up with a good saying; kill an animal and its dead. Kill the tree and every animal that would ever live in it for centuries will never even live
I live in Barrow Alaska for 4 months in the year. Pretty much every year, I kill a whale. Of course this is done as part of a group. One man cannot do it alone.

I agree. I would rather they naturally overpopulate and slowly, painfully die from starvation.
I once killed three animals with a single shot. I shot at the horn of a cow but the horn was so hard that the bullet split into two and each half richocheted into two other cows standing nearby. They dropped dead instantly and because of that, the original cow was so terrified that it died due to fright.
Ha! that's nothing. I once killed an entire block of villagers with a single press of a button from my cockpit. 50+ people. Ya should've seen the women screaming. LOL!! This was some village in Iraq. Dunno the name, dont care.
You were able to defeat woodchucks with only a gun?
How impressive.

Damned you, Night Runner. A pox upon you and all of your pet rubber duckies!

While we are at it, lets go around and shoot some humans. They are the worst overopulated animal on earth, so lets go let emm ripp. Lets see how fun that is. Really does sound like an enjoyable hunting trip.
In all seriousness, just because something is overpopulated doesn't mean you should kill them. Humans should learn to share land with animals and not kill them because it is not just the humans' earth. I understand killing things for food but being proud of murdering a defenceless animal that might even have a family is gross.
I know this comment won't make a difference through your big, thick head but how would YOU like it if you were killed for absolutely no reason for sport. Here come the counter arguments. But there is no way around it. Killing animals for fun is simply wrong.
