You've probably seen some of the following, but these are probably my top 10 movies as I think of them today.
Good Will Hunting
This is Spinal Tap (since this is a "rocumentary", I put it on here even though it is obviously a comedy)
The Red Violin (lots of sex in this one; thought you might need to know that considering your condition while watching)
Billy Elliott
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (documentary)
American Movie (documentary)
Crumb (documentary)
Punch Drunk Love (Adam Sandler movie, but very un-Sandler like...very awesome movie; Sandler is GREAT in it...NOT a comedy)
Big Night
Hoop Dreams (documentary)
I love the documentaries as you can see.
I've not yet seen the 7 Up series, but I hope to do that some day.
You won't be laid up that long with a vasectomy. I had one and ran 12 miles the next morning. I assume you are getting the no-scalpel procedure. It was no big deal at all. Docs assume they are dealing with the regular sissy, obese, whiny, sedentary rabble when they say that, not people who are used to discomfort. You are going to wonder what the big deal was.
I do have a couple of books, but I got Citizen Kane, Dark Knight, Benjamin Button, Hurt Locker, Gran Torino, and Crumb(mostly because I liked American Splendor.
I also recorded Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life a while back so I will watch one of them in the event I can tolerate some laughter. (shave-shave, stick-stick, cut-cut, snip-snip, sperm-no-more!)
Many of the others folks recommended I had seen already.
I went to the freezer section and got 2 bags of frozen corn and changed my "look" after my run this afternoon with the shaving cream and a razor......
In deference to the kids you'll no longer be having might I suggest the following:
The Incredibles - make sure to add that Bounding short to help visualize your comeback
UP - you'll need a lot of maryjane for this one so you don't end up Down
Toy Story 3 - go ahead and skip 1 & 2
The Shrek Trilogy plus 1 – should help distract you when that whole crystallized thing starts going on
Bambi - the digitally enhanced version, if you know what I mean, nudge, nudge, wink, wink
Ratatouille - in French with Englsih subtitles
Wall E - you'll be one of these humans soon after you get fixed so take notes
Monsters vs Aliens - the politically corrected remix
Bolt – don’t get too excited it’s not a home movie on Usain’s romps through England
The Wizard of Oz – will make you afraid of monkeys and Australians although not necessarily in that order
Being There
"The best movie you've never heard of"

A Serbian Film
Simona
Wristcutters
Here are a few of my favorites:
"Aguirre, the Wrath of God"
"Magnolia"
"My Dinner with Andre"
"Lost in Translation"
"Thirteen Conversations About One Thing"
"The Conversation"
For my last four selections, I'll mention several classics that, although perhaps a bit difficult for most modern American audiences to enjoy, are probably worth seeing at some point in one's life:
"Ikiru"
"La Dolce Vita"
"Tokyo Story"
"Au Hasaud, Balthazar"
As a bonus selection, in light of your current circumstances, I can't resist recommending "Parenthood."
