We call them 'Old Guys with Boobs'.
I admire older people who work hard to stay fit and healthy, or enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded folks in the running scene, but the *racing* is just silly.

And speaking of man-boobs ...when a guy needs a training bra in mid-life, is that a sign that testosterone levels are low, and he's no longer a *performer*?
uhhh...my post must have hit home with you.

At what age would you prohibit people from "racing"?

A lot of local road races still get won by guys over 40. Are you fast enough not to worry about being overtaken by a wrinkly?

Your question could have been asked of the 43,000+ athletes tht ran New York. Why? For money? For prestige?
No, dumbshit for the ability to reach whatever limit they had. If a Masters runner can achieve something along the way of a timed goal, then f*** you. I bet your best times don't even come close.
does that include haile? 'cause he is probably 40 by now...
Actually, by most standards, I'd be considered a "wrinkly" myself, and as it turns out, have competitive speed for my age group.
I would certainly never suggest *prohibiting* anyone from racing at any age, but most of the even remotely successful people I know in their 40s and 50s have more important things to do than *racing* at that age (and I am that age). It seems silly to me, especially if you're someone who had a decent run at glory in your youth.
Tell that to Ed Whitlock.
If its's Ok with you, I would like to keep running, thanks.
Why not rate people according to the drugs that are common for their age group.
