Most XC courses add about 30 sec to a track 5K timing, a minute if it's tough. Today was over two minutes for the top guys. Some runners are going to take a bigger hit on this than others, compared to a "normal" course.
What about allowing wild animals to roam the course? We could have cougars, bears etc. That surely would make it interesting. Also, the course could be made longer, say 10K- 12K. That would be a manly course.

Looks like Letsrun melted down again today. How are you doing?
Dave you know these idiots have nothing better to do then bash HS kids and the state of New Jersey.
Did Rosa have a bad race? Clearly. Yet he is the same kid who has beaten the 1st and 2nd place finishers head to head. Did NJ have a bad day? No our new resident Kenyan had a great day as did CBA(5th) who finished something like 18 points out to 3rd.

He's going to play for St. Louis? Football or baseball? Wow, I thought he was going to run for Stanford next year. What a crazy turn of events!
He will actually attend U. of Louisville - or is it Ball State?
NXN should definately have an average course. IMO "real" cross country is some mud, not a complete mud field. And it shoudl be a mix of terrain, not a few loops on flat mud with rediculous whoopdewhatevers. Why can't they get some real hills. That makes it more difficult and more "Real," but isnt as reatrded.
And Cheserek did amazingly well, but hes freaking kenyan, hack the system much? I mean, his school recruited him.
and Verbicas is Lithuanian. what's your point?
Lutz clearly had a meltdown race as well... he beat Brian Gohlke by 25 seconds, 28 seconds, 36 seconds in 3 other races this season!
This time only by 24!!! HE COULD HAVE WON IF YOU AVERAGE THE OTHER 3!!!!!!!!!! AND SUBTRACT THAT FROM HIS FINISH TIME AT NXN!
OK, so he dominates cheserek all year (2nd at nxn), beats elkhaim all year (8:51 twomile), and has a bad race where Luke Versabis runs 6 minute mile pace for a 1000m portion.
I know it's easy for you to talk crap about a kid (repeat, kid) who hasn't lost a single race all year, considering he's been in some big-time races.
But he can beat you. He can cream you. So stfu, this thread is ridiculous.
why do they run nxn in oregon? they need to head south.
Rosa and Zach Wills QUIT!

This doesn't bode well for the NCAA's. Stanford already has established a pattern of underperforming in the biggest meet of the year. Two years in a row for Jim having a bad race in his biggest race of the year. Who knows if Joe will be a force after major foot surgery.
On another post I stated the Rosa's would be 2 years away from helping Stanford. Now reading what you just wrote maybe never.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Real tough conditions can make it very hard to regulate effort if you are not used to them. That can make it very easy to go out too fast and be done for the end of the race. Sounds like this is what happened to some runners.

Rosa has never beaten LV in XC. The Rosas, Elkaim, New Jersey, and Holmdel course are downright weak on the national level in XC. This is why mediocre kids only run NXN and avoid Footlocker, they wouldn't even get out of Footlocker regionals. All year these NXN "elite" kids are told how great they are, but put them in a race with Footlocker kid, they just give up as their illusions are shattered. Who cares about my club, I can't run against a Footlocker kid, cry, cry, crying in back, and falling ever further back because it was always about them as "stars" at NXN and not their "team."

Clearly a troll but just in case look at the NJ kids who did qualify and where they have finished compared to the NXN NJ kids throughout the year.
