I have never understood this mindset. There are thousands of career options out there. What are you doing? You're following your emotions. You follow support from others because it makes you feel whatever contentment you feel from believing your life is going in the right direction. Sometimes this support allows you to prepare for opportunities of better emotions later in life. Nothing else can motivate you.
Read the fourth chapter of Albert Camus' Myth of Sisyphus. It'll explain all your problems.

I'm sorry, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I wake up every morning and I honestly ask myself, "Are you ok?" Then I try to tell myself that I am ok. I am not ok. I feel marginally better as the day goes on. This is my fate, and I laugh at it, too.
I wake up and all I can think is that everything hurts & what would I give to sleep in just 20 more minutes! It's all psychological though.
It's night that I think, my goodness I'm 31 & don't have any of the big 3. (own a home, wife, kids) Am I a complete failure??? Then I think it over and realize all my friends that have those 3 are miserable.

Everyone is different. I love my wife, kids, and enjoy our house. Having a family of my own has been very rewarding. While I enjoy and get satifaction from my job and personal interests, nothing even comes close to my marriage and children. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but I wouldn't find life nearly as fulfilling without them.
No, never. I usually wake up wondering how I'm going to fit all the tasks that need to be done into the same time slot as the activities I can't wait to get to.
I wake up asking this all the time. I work for a poop scooping company and basically, I pick up dog sh#t in people\\\'s back yards all day. I can\\\'t find other work, even though I look every day. I can\\\'t get the smell of dog poop out of my nose ever. I smell it when I eat, when I go to sleep at night so, believe you me bother, you don\\\'t want my job. The only time the smell kind of goes away is on my run at night. Other than that, my life is full of sh%t.

What job do you do that's so exciting?
I love watching films but if for example I was a film reviewer I would get bloody bored watching 40 hours of films a week
Loads of people claim to love their job. If they won the lottery most of them would drop it like a bomb
You can still love you job and still want to do something else more.
I love my job but I'd rather be out hiking or something along those lines.
But since I need a job to make money the job I do have is awesome.
Find something you enjoy doing if you going to do if for 30 years.

I wake up in the morning depressed, untill i go upstairs, steal a cup of my roommates coffee, dump a s*it load of cream in it and go to class... Then run...then work....same thing everyday
