How much are Hansons/Brooks runners getting paid?

Maybe you caught him on a bad day. He's human like the rest of us. I'm within 5 miles of the Utica store and saw him often. I didn't fawn over him, or any of the runners for that matter, but he was always kind and courteous when we were in there at the same time. He's married and has a child and was trying to sell his house, so maybe he was having "a moment". Sorry he turned you off, but he's truly pretty down to earth. Not being mean, but Clint acted way more uppity than Brian ever did and he couldn't hold a candle to Brian. Clint just wasn't as good, but life goes on now doesn't it?

I disagree 110%. I stopped shopping at Hanson's because of the arrogance of Brian Sell. I once asked him why he never ran with the group on Thursday nights from the store. He scoffed at me and mumbled something under his breathe. I was not aware that he is no longer there. I may give them another shot.

Team Nebraska Brooks has the same problem. Many of their runners don't even run in Brooks. Sad.

there is a reason everyone leaves hansons.. sh1tty money and bad training. I know personally at least 5 of the guys who left and no one has a good thing to say

The Hansons will ask you to conform to their idea of training, their plan, style, etc...

Other clubs or coaches will usually conform to what has worked for you in the past and try to tweak things.

For some, the Hansons plan works. For others it doesn't.

As for the Hansons being cocky or arrogant, I don't think anyone has the right to call someone a complete jerk unless they've actually spent a full day together or have met them on more than 5 occasions. If you don't know someone, you may not be able to judge whether the person is really a jerk, maybe being sarcastic as a joke, or is just having a bad day.

Anyway, whoever is running in Chicago for Hansons - I hope they run well!

Brian was their diamond in the rough. Desi is also the exception on the women's side, but besides that....?

Argue if you like, but running 2:15 doesn't do anything on the world scene and since the top foreigners will always run NY, Chicago, Boston, LA, ect.....these 2:15 guys don't have a chance. Blunt, but true. I am totally guessing, but I think Clint has been there for a solid 9 years and what did he do, break 2:15 once or twice? He wrote on Flotrack about a year ago that he isn't bothered by the naysayers and that it charges him up to prove them wrong (paraphrasing). Well, what has he done?

The Hanson's program has work well for a few and hasn't for others, but maybe that's because they didn't have the talent to run any faster. If Morgan tried to train with Meb for a year or two, would he be a 2:09 marathoner? Personally, I doubt it.

It's a good program and a good idea but a program like the Nike Project or Mammoth is where the majority of top guys are going to train, not with the Hanson's in Michigan. Heck, why did Nick leave? Why did Jankowski leave? I don't think it's anything personal against Keith or Kevin, they are nice guys for sure, but it doesn't work for everyone and who knows what Brian would have done training with guys better than him. Hmmmmm.......

I hope they run well in Chicago as well, especially Melissa who's gotta get under 2:30 one day soon.

As far as what they get paid, I really don't know and honestly don't care.

People leave programs every day. Usually because they are not quite as good as they thought they were. There was a recent thread bashing Steve Jones because Hartmann and Rizzo and Cabada all moved on. I remember a thread bashing Mammoth because Ian Dobson and his wife and the Slattery's all left. It is the whole grass is always greener thing. The top athletes usually stick with their coaches while struggling athletes are always looking for the magic touch.

A "chance" at what, dillhole?

Get a job working a lot of hours at a running store making basically minimum wage and find a cheap ass house to live in.

You'll be in the exact same position as most of the Hanson's guys, and you won't even have to deal with the dysfunctional coaching strategies. Also, find a coach that listens to you, doesn't take 99% of the proceeds you're generating from running/appearence fees, and doesn't get pissed that you have a girlfriend.

The stores have made an unbelievable money, largely thanks to Sell, but locally because of the other guys as well, and non of the athletes ever saw a dime.

And yes, I'm not lying, the athletes never see the appearence fees.

I think running teams like this have a lot of potential to positively impact American distance running, but this is NOT the model, nor is remotely close.

So who else, without whoring themselves out to shoe company money first, has found a model to rival this? Who else is doing more with less talent? Mahon has nothing in the marathon with Kastor on the downside and Hall stagnating since 2008 and now scared to even race a marathon. Salazar has what, only a post-partum Kara Goucher who will probably never run faster than she already has in the marathon? Hudson ran all his talent off, Steve Jones has almost done the same. McMillan keeps getting his top runners injured but at least has foreign ringers to help his group's image.

Obviously you are too stupid to do anything but hide behind your keyboard. If you can't figure it out, you need more help than a licensed therapist could provide. Good luck with that:)

With all due respect, since the Hanson's inception into the world of running clubs in the US, how many 2:10 marathoners have they produced? More have left the Hanson's group than any other group. Why? It should be obvious. $$$$$$$$$$$$$, training environment, other athletes, perks, etc................ Brian did the best financially, others were happy that a club, any club, would give a 2:20 marathoner a chance to get to 2:15.

But you are correct, people do leave programs, no doubt about it. If you were Ritz and you could go to Hanson's or Nike with all they can provide, where would you go? Case closed.

My question would be how many people have left the Hanson group and then suddenly done better under different circumstances? If there's a magic training program in the US that can turn guys who were 2:15 marathoners on their best day into 2:10 marathoners, I'm not aware of it.

I don't know the whole truth, but have been told a lot of what you've said. I don't believe 99% of the runners on this board have a clue as to the profit of a single pair of running shoes. The volume of capital made with those shoes is more than most here would believe. I have a friend who sold running shoes and told me the profit margin...wow!

Yes, they owe a lot to Brian who really gave their program some get up and go. Seriously, take him out of the picture and what do you have on the men's side?

I applied to Hansons but went to another group after visiting because all the women think they are better than they are. They are very non appreciative of Brooks and the Hansons and create a negative atmosphere. The guys seemed way better.
