Leslie ran 15:33 at state meet to win by 15 seconds. So he had a bad race at footlocker, big deal. Please don't call a state cc champ in Ohio in a quality time a non-distance runner. He is a stud and proved it, saying otherwise is just uneducated.
Green's bio says he was the runner-up in cc in hs. He ran 9:12, it doesn't matter how many other times he was sub 9:40, he still did it.
Ian Conner, Rob Myers, Brian Olinger, Braden Martinez, Cory Leslie, are some of the bigger ones but I also meant Div I kids from hick sounding schools with no running programs (not See or Baylo), such as Jake Edwards, Levi Fox, Julian Meyer, etc... Sure they don't get every stud from Ohio but they get first pick.
I like OSU and want to see them do well but also feel they shouldn't get a pass, although now looking back - they are doing better with what they have than Michigan is. There seems to be this theme of "we don't get many real distance runners ...... so our success in the cc season is that much more impressive." If you are a cc state champ or a sub 15:50 guy at the ohio state hs state meet, you are a stud and most certainly have the ability to be a good to great college cc runner.
Should be a great season.
