Parents (or others): Have you ever let your daughter stay with a male friend?

Your daughter has already sucked more dick than you could imagine. She's probably already slept with 20-something year old guys. She's an adult. Before she's finished with school she'll have gotten it on with many guys from 18 old 32 years old.

Before I read your post I thought you were going to say your daughter was in high school. Your daughter is going off to college. Lord knows what kind of things she is going to do all year long and who she will be staying with during this time. I am sure she will be out partying and then wake up in some strange persons apartment or dorm room many times this fall. So her staying with a known male friend isn't a big deal.

We let my stepson's girlfriend move in for her senior year of high school. They shared the same room, the same bed, and yes they had sex.

This is pretty much what I saw when I lived in Sweden at age 20, so it was no biggie to me.

They didn't get pregnant, they didn't drink and drive or do drugs. They are both upstanding, responsible young adults today. Although they are no longer together, they stay in touch as friends. The girl sends us birthday and Christmas cards, even after the kids stopped being a couple. Before the girl moved in, the mom's met, had lunch together, and talked a ton on the phone.

It all worked out great.

Basically their generation is more mature in some ways than yours or mine.

If you talk openly, intelligently, honestly with them, and offer high quality information (instead of agendas of control, delivered with guilt, shame, manipulation, or judgment) you'll end up with a high quality young adult offspring.

Will they have some trial and error and growth in their lives?

You bet.

The best place for a person to learn and grow...is in a relationship with another human being.

To your question, the real answer is in how well you have raised your girl, and the quality and values of the family of the boy in question.

The girls go crazy and get laid by a bunch of hot new guys from other parts of the country/state.

Then mid-terms loom, and the girls either slow down, or look for a steady boyfriend to relieve through sex the pressures of studies and athletics.

Or they declare themselves "lesbian till I graduate," in order to avoid unwanted pregnancies.

Are there no other girls on the team she could stay with?

When I went to a different university to finish the master's in my 30's, I got there with no place to stay and was not able to find one the first day, but had met a guy on the team. He said they were having a get together and to come by his place that evening. When I arrived, there was a house full of people. He insisted that I could sleep in his room and bed that night (because he wanted a girl to invite him to his place). I think he dated her for a few weeks and then dated someone else that was in the same program at the college. Some of the people in the department dated around, some dated one person, some didn't date at all.

From my experience, knowing others and having been at different colleges, around many runners etc, I would say that most people don't date a lot, even in college. I dated a lot in my mid 20's, not early 20's, not much after age 30. It depends on the person. I did not date people from parties, because I have never liked parties, never cared for mindless drinking (except for a few weeks in my early 20's but tired of it quickly as it was wearing me out), as I saw no point to it.

Anyway, if she wanted to she could probably find some other girl from the team to stay with. Or maybe he just wants to stay with that guy and visit, get to know the place. Like others have said, she's an adult, and is off to have her own life experiences.

Honestly. If you are that worried about it why don't you pony up some money and get her a hotel room. I would surely hope a grown adult parent could have better problem solving skills than yourself. It shouldn't be about if we think you should have anything to worry about. It's about your responsibility as a damn parent and the type of daughter you have raised.

Pull her out of the college and make her go to a local one where she can commute from your house. It doesn't matter if she's 18 or not, only if she has enough money to support herself. She probably doesn't, so you can control her and prevent her becoming another used up, unhappy, liberal whore.

Just thought I'd let everyone know, my daughter is now pregnant, with triplets! And apparently each child was fathered by a different man! What a whore.

If a mom ever knew about this message board I certainly would think it would not be to obtain advance regarding any family type of matters. This makes the rest of my response absolutely nonsense, but....

So if you were a mom and for whatever reason created posts on letsrun.com message boards then you were either actively involved in a college running program or are now running yourself. Why else would you know about this place?

Mow if you were a former college runner then you already know that your daughter will be shagging up with various guys (most likely on her team or on the same dorm floor initially) for the next several years until she meets the one she will try to date upon graduation and beyond, only to break up with him upon finding out the cool new guy she works with is more than 15 lbs in weight than herself.

If you just got into the running scene and somehow found this site and create posts regarding your family then you seriously need to worry about who is going to take care of your bastard grandchild here in nine months because it's foolish not to think she's already getting banged out by a "friend."
