This is about the funniest contest I've ever seen. There's a picture somewhere or other of these guys, red as hell, sitting in the sauna. Weird to think that one of them died, but I guess that's what happens when two equally crazy guys play chicken

230F is normal finnish sauna temperature :)
The highest i have been was 137 ºC = 278.6 ºF, all depends of amount of water in the air.
80 ºC = 176 ºF in very wet russian type sauna is much worse.

If you did this to somebody else it would be torture and you would be reviled by the world but if somebody wishes to do it to himself who am I to argue?
If I entered the World Sauna's, I'd come to win. If I finished second or worse, believe me, I'd be steamed.

He probably deserved it.
It seemed pretty crazy at first, but come to think of it, runners put themselves through a lot of pain as well. Who's to say what leads them to this competition other than their love for saunas? I'm not going to judge.
that is nuts. I remember some of the wrestlers at my school used to just go nuts in there. They would put this mint spray on the rocks and make it seem even hotter
watch that youtube clip of this. They get better attendance and media at the suana champs then we do at the usatf nationals
