It is wide open this year for one of the mid level teams to crack the top 5. The top 2 are very solid, and SLU will probably grap 3rd, but we could see a team from out of nowhere surprise everyone and squeek in at 4th or 5th.
I don't know if Fredonia is the team to do it, but I expect a team that finished outside the top 10 last year surprises some people and makes a run for nationals.
Women? (And if you don't care about the women, no need to waste your valuable time informing us of the fact.)
NYU was set to have a monster team returning (plus McD does a good job recruiting), with the team's top X all frosh and sophs (last year). I think they may have lost a projected returner or two, but should still be outstanding.
Who else? A good recruiting class can make such an immediate difference on the distaff side...

I assume SLU will be good again? Pavlus is back for as a senior, correct? She should be one of the favorites for an individual title.

I think this may be a year where 4th and 5th place in the region doesn't matter... as in those teams probably won't make it to nationals.
Anyways, my predictions -
1 - Geneseo. 2 guys sub-14:30 equals the best 1-2 in the region, maybe the country? Behind that they have plenty of talented runners, plus the transfer of Novara is ridiculous. They will be contenders for the national title if they can peak at the right time this year.
2 - NYU. Returns a lot of solid guys plus some freshman who really stepped up in track (sub-15:00 guys). If the transfer rumor is true, then that hurts their chances of running with Geneseo but they are still solidly the 2nd best team in the region.
3 - SLU. They have some good returners behind Ramsey. The real question is, where are Kiplagat and Mwenda? If they get both of those guys running, then they could contend with Geneseo. However, chances are that something will happen to one or both of them just based off of past years.
4 - U of R. Real good #1 in Lang, then some guys who ran well in track filling in behind. They could catch SLU if SLU has an off day
5 - Can't tell. It could be Fredonia if they get J. Guarino back, since they are getting some pretty good recruits, thanks to Beck, but who knows what will happen with this team now that he is gone. People seem to think Cortland can give it a run this year, but Patrick hasn't proved that he's capable of developing ANYONE who wasn't already a solid runner, I don't believe they will do much this year. RIT is always a possibility, they always seem to have talented runners and are well-coached. TCNJ? Who knows...
Plattsburgh should be in there too, if they can get a few of their track guys to step up behind Heymann then they can be the 5th team.
Def. agree with the top 3 but the next 4 are just funny to look at the order. Fredonia lost their coach and will be in a scramble, i heard that Guarinno might be taking a year of eligibility off and Novaro is possibly transferring. Plattsburg has Heyman...... as usuall, they dont do much even with one of the best runners in the region, tell me what other promising runners they have. Oneonta...joke they have a #1 sophomore nick maidson who wont make the All-Sunyac team this year. Cortland at least has some returning guys who are no names but have dipped under 15:40 in a 5k who if they actually try in fall might make some difference. dont get me wrong theirs a gap between the top 3 to the #4 team but i dnt agree with the order.

yeah i agree knott has done nothing to warrant a place up in the top of the region,not even close actually.
on the geneseo track website eddie novara and matt knott are listed on the roster
a second thought however on knott he was a freshman last year so who know what can happen from year to year. he did have some solid times.
