add belainesh gebre zemedkun and teyba naser to those who want to become USA citizens. and i am sure many more.
the main thing they are looking for, is what almost everyone looks for a better way of life.

Jorge Torres is NOT retired, clown. How do you know that Jager and Teg won't move up to the 10,000? How do you know that Cheseret or Chelanga wouldn't try to make the team at 5000m? Oh, that's right, you don't because you're clueless.
Clueless? You're saying Jager will keep Chelanga from making a US team! Now that, my friend, and you have to agree, is clueless.

For all Kipyego's potential, as someone already asked where was she for Osaka, Beijing, and Berlin?
She lived in Kenya you jackwad. If she had been an American those years we would have seen and heard plenty about her in those races.
They will simply be Kenyans who are wearing American jerseys. I don't think we're going to be able to fool anyone into thinking that they're actual Americans. Everyone will know that they are actually Kenyans who have different paperwork.
They will be ringers.
Almost everyone here is a transport from another country as this country was original occupied by Native Americans (Indians). So not many of us can point the finger at others and say their not Americans just because they aren't nautralized citizens.
All of us should welcome anyone who seeks U.S. citizenship and that definitely include Robert Cheseret, Sam Chelanga, and Sally Kipyego. Can't wait til they become U.S. citizens and get their first American Record and start living their dream.
Sally deserves a shot at citizenship, but with koll busting her collegiate record, she now is the collegiate best ever including sally and all the rest at that distance. She might even be the best collegiate ever at 5k also. Isn't koll about 3 years younger than Sally?
Anyone know what is next for Sally, barringer and koll?
When will they meet each other and the seasoned pros on the track?

He certainly could if Chelanga was to go for 5K. So could German Fernandez. They are only 1 and 6 seconds off of Sams PR respectively and are a LOT younger. Yes, Sam can go faster and so can they. In fact, I believe both of them are faster over the mile and 3K. Sam is fantastic, hasn't showed marked improvement over the past 2 seasons though, those two did.
Not saying they will, but they could.
What is Kipyego's status now? Is she still on a student VISA? A HB-1? How does that affect her immigration process.
Presumably Chelanga has permanent residency already? He came here in H.S., right, so he wouldn't be on a student VISA?
Cheseret has the easiest situation to understand.

No this is wrong and stupid. I am not a transport to this country, I was born here. My great great great, ever how many, grand parents might have been imports, but I am not.
Robert Cheseret has a valid reasons to seek US citizenship.Firstly he is already serving to defend the country. No doubt he will be deployed to Afghanistan just like any other army officer.Secondly, his brother is already an american citizen who has won several medals for team US.Thirdly he earned his collge degree in the US through scholarships and what a better way to pay back than serve the country in every capacity. As for Kipyego she is on a HB-1 visa.

Hey idiot, how many "white Americans" have run 27:28 while still in college? How many have won nine NCAA titles? These guys are on track to be the best America has ever seen. Oh, but your right. We're giving then too much credit for being African.
Chelenga was repeatedly beaten with ease by a younger G. Rupp. Cheseret was beaten at XC by a *much* younger G. Rupp and barely beat him at the 10k on the track.
Where are you getting 9 NCAA titles for either or both combined from?

Oregon Track Club/Nike didn't sign up Sally Kipyego without the proviso that Sally would (at least) apply for U.S. citizenship.
Sally's end of the deal - OTC had to take her partner Kevin Chelimo in a package deal.
The big mystery for me is why Boaz Cheboiywo hasn't got the ball rolling on his U.S. citizenship.
I thought for a good while that Boaz would be a great addition to USATF but I'm beginning to think he is past it now, his recent performances have been good but not great. Still wouldn't mind having him but he is not a sure thing to even be competitive for a team.

If the above information is correct and Sally is on an HB-1, she has a long road to go yet to get citizenship.
Is Chelanga a permanent resident w/ a green card?
Surely there is someone on Letsrun that would marry Sally Kipyego. A smart, decent looking world-class runner. That would solve her citizenship issues, no?

For your info Cheseret is already a US Citizen, his time of 28.58 Mt. Sac 10k is a US Nationals Professional qualifying time and most likely you will see him run US Nationals in June if more people don't run faster than that..
Sally Kipyego ran a 14:38.64 in the 5000 meters in Brussels on 8/27/10 which would have been an American record if she had her citizenship.
If Cheseret can get back into shape, he WILL run VERY fast.
Robert Cheseret has become a U.S citizen and is finally rounding back into top form and both Sally Kipyego and Sam Chelanga will be U.S citizens within the next 3 years. Before they end their careers as U.S citizens I see each running
Sally Kipygeo (US)
1500m.....4:02.3
3000m.....8:21.9
5000m....14:24.3
10000m...29:48.5
Sam Chelanga (US)
3000m.....7:33.5
5000m....12:56.2
10000m...26:42.6
1/2 M......58:12
Robert Cheseret (US)
3000m.....7:31.9
5000m....12:54.6
10000m...26:52.9
Mar......2:04:15
Sam Chelanga was questioned after his 2nd NCAA X-Country win about his American citizenship quest and announced he applied for permanent residency a short while ago. It's amazing to think of his 4 years of NCAA X he finished:
NCAA X-Country Championships
Freshman..........16th
Sophmore..........2nd
Junior............CHAMPION
Senior............CHAMPION
I think the best is yet to come from this young man and if he stays healthy he will be much better at 10000m than 5000m. I also think he may have trouble breaking 12:55 for 5000m but SUB 26:40 is possible.
Anyone know how close that means he is to actually becoming a U.S. citizen?
