UT got 6 of top 20 and Florida 4 of top 20 - together half of top 20 overall - that is beyond impressive

STFU about football already.
I think Texas A&M or FSU will take the cake...but we will see come June
Watson may be a decent recruiter but he has yet to prove that he can actually coach. He is just using the success Fox got him to make people think he understands anything about training. And so far based on their results the last two seasons, he is worse at coaching than Whit.

on the men's side UNC looks great as well....Pete Watson and Ryan Van Hoy have got some studs coming in...should be able to mix it up with the class of the ACC next year...
I doubt they've got the top guns like Oregon, but as far as depth of class goes they're up there with the best of them...
no need to name drop useless volunteers who are bigger morons than the coaching staff (a pretty major accomplishment here)
Another popularity poll / contest. It doesn't matter what the media says about HS recruits, there's never been an NCAA D-IA national champion in over 100 years of college football. USC and Notre Dame will be shit once Obama cans the Beauty Contest System. Hollywood TV execs suck.
Oregon
Sarah Andrews (I think somewhere around 10:21 for 3200m?)
Parker Stinson (4:1x/8:53 as a JR)
OSU
Jeff Arnier (Huge breakout XC season compared to what his track PRs were)
Texas
Nathan Christianson (4:21/9:21 last track season)
Ryan Dohner (9:03ish last track season)
Will Nation (4:20/9:31 last track season)

Proof to back this up? Men's team had the best fall in 10 years with 2 All-ACC performers and their highest regional finish (first team that didn't make nationals from the SE).
The girls team who did not make nationals last fall with Brie Felnagle running did not make it again this year without her, so no surprise there.
Any updates to recent signing classes?
Colby Alexander to the University of Oregon. Watch out for this kid. He is going to be a stud, just you watch. I think under Vin's coaching he can be a all American in the mile his freshman year!!!

Wow, wow...I mean wow. Where to start? Chris Fox has coached a grand total of ONE (1) mens XC team to the NCAA meet in the past decade. Where exactly did he get this genius reputation from? Pete not only got them to the meet in a few years, but they were on the podium!
And based on the fact that you said his results the last two seasons (he's been there six months, but what do the facts matter!) are worse than the Dr. Whit, you either dont know what you are talking about or have an axe to grind.

Tell me this is the biggest f-ing joke ever!!! That kid has only ran what 4:12. Thats it. Inconsistent too. 15:50's for most of his xc races this year. I have no idea why he is going there. When he brakes 9:30 in the two mile more than twice this season let me know.
UNC just had three guys run 4:04 4:05 (freshmen) and 4:06 at Washington. The first time in over 10 years they had a sub 4:10 miler indoors and also had another run 14:21 in the 5000m which is 3rd best ever at UNC indoors.
When they get some depth with this recruiting class they are bringing in they will be a good team
The first time in over 10 years they had a sub-4:10 miler indoors? That's ironic indeed considering at least two of those three were 4:10 guys in high school.

That just shows you how bad it was at UNC for the men under Whit. Jesus.
Could it be that Colby understands how he might get a lot faser? Running in a Vin Lananna program, with lots of other good runners, and community support may be what it takes to reach one's potential. It surely can't hurt, and Vin Lananna recognizes talent as well as anyone. He recruited Colby for a reason, and I'd be really to give even odds that he will prove you totally wrong. Come back here in two years and let's see what kind of times Colby is running for Oregon.
I recently just graduated college here, and I follow the high school running pretty well. I had no idea who the heck this kid was. I saw your post and I looked him up on mile split. He has a good 800 meter time. And his 1600 is 4.14.9
Mile is also a 4.14.3
I have been at the Footlocker Midwest meet for about 3-4 years and I have not seen a time like 15:49.00 make it out. I've actually witness a friend run under 15.20 and did not make it out. And a 16.19 at FL.
If your the boy's father, i completely understand of thinking he is the next rupp but Vin Lananna did not recruit this kid. Andy Powell did. Oregon is not the only team that has community support and a lot of other good runner. Wisco has GREAT community support, terrific runners, and great coaching.
Lananna on Alexander:
“Andy Powell has done a marvelous job recruiting Colby to Oregon. He will be an outstanding addition to our distance program.”
Vin recruited
BRIAN SHRADER, MIDDLE DISTANCE, FLAGSTAFF, ARIZ./SINAGUA HS
Prep Bests: 800 Meters - 1:52.89; 1,600 Meters - 4:12.07; 3,200 Meters - 9:10.47.
“Brian and his family have strong connections to the state and we are very excited about his potential to be an immediate impact athlete in our strong distance program. He had great success this fall and we are confident that we’ll see great races from Brian when he wears the Oregon singlet.”
PARKER STINSON, DISTANCE, AUSTIN, TEXAS/CEDAR PARK HS
Prep Bests: 3,200 Meters - 8:54.70.
“Parker has had great success as a prep athlete. His win at the 2009 junior nationals in Eugene was very impressive and the start of what will be many more great performances for him at Hayward Field.”
