Oh how the mighty have fallen, this is so sad
Eh...shitty conditions, first race, I wouldn't be too concerned. Maybe he isn't a straight up god anymore, but I bet he'll still qualify as super human for a number of years to come. I bet he still goes undefeated over 3000-10000m on the track this year.
also the 3000m? Hmm
-He lost by almost 40 seconds
-He said that he's focusing on the 3k record
I'd say that this is a good sign that the 3k record is about to be smashed.
Either that or he's just sandbagging again. Doesnt he do something of this sort every cross country season?
In the BBC TV interview with Jonathan Edwards afterwards, KB blamed his poor preparation for the race; he said he hadn't trained for three days since arriving in Scotland and this had hindered him. Dubious stuff for a man of his level, fitness doesn't drain away that quickly.
He looked fairly distraught actually.
7.18 should be doable on a good day. Maybe 7.17 with good rabbits??
Bekele is just warming up for the XC Worlds, this was just a training...
Great race by J. Luis Barrios!!, seven seconds behind Bekele... apparently he is training now with Tadeusz Kempka (Poland) who was former trainer of great mexican runners like Rodolfo Gomez, Arturo Barrios and Dionicio Ceron... we'll see what happens with Barrios this year...
It is a replay of 2008 world cross champs on the same venue except that the fourth placer then won this time round while the 2008 winner finishes fourth. What a vengeance! Despite the big blow by the Kenyans this should not lead us to conclude that KB is finished. It will have to take more than five defeats within a span of six months to make that kind of conclusion. KB's domination over the last seven years has been one of a kind. His achievements cannot be equaled by Geb's and Tergat's added together even if he was to retire now. Kenyans are very talented but lack the kind of mental strength KB seems to have.
he started his preparation for 2010 very late. Another 4 weeks, he is with them and by the end of March is blowing them
off the course!!!
It was a rust buster race for him. Any one who wants to count out KB is an idiot.
I agree. Come on, it was snowing! Last time he lost it was 100 degrees. Weather can be an equalizer. Better yet, KB is older and wiser and looks at these out of season races as a means to an end.
Full results anywhere?

Not training for three days obviously had a very bad effect on his running. He might not have lost much fitness, but there is more to running than you think.
After seeing the above picture of the race, I don't think there is much for Bekele to worry about. Poor footing affects different people differently. Some are mudders, maybe some are "snowers". Maybe in the world of snow running Bekele isn't God, but he still is when it comes to the track.
is there anywhere i can watch highlights

That's a tough hill. I've run up it
put world xc in the winter olympics where it belongs. You would then see some shock results like this one.
