Yeah, I guess you're right about that. Saying "Hey, Indian" to my wife wouldn't go over too well. Then again, saying "Hey, Bob" or "Hey, Steve" to her probably wouldn't go over too well either.

Let us hope that the real Billy Mills is never forced to meet people like most of the ones posting in this thread. I think he's earned enough the right not to have to deal with assholes.

What a cool experience. Everyone here has covered some great topics, my advice to you would be to take US 40 to Terre Haute instead of I70 so you have more time to talk to him. :--)

I met him in college. he spoke at the njcca xc nationals. Nice guy. I would have liked to ask him about Running Brave and how he felt about the movie, what was real, what was movie magic. Lots of training questions as well.

American Indians, like myself, don't mind American Indian or Native American.

I can't believe I just spent the last 5 hours with Billy Mills...I think I know every story about his family, his racing, the things he went through racially, physically. He talked about his family A LOT.

I will share some fun stories later. He was a big hit at the party I took him to tonight. (Not the kind of party you're thinking of) Coaches, NCAA members, old, yet interesting people sitting around drinking having a good time.

To the guy who said he should be a letsrun reader, that would have been hilarious if he took some of these opinions and twisted them at me.

I'll be seeing him a few more times this weekend so I may put in a plug for letsrun and see if he's a reader.

For now, I'm going out on the town in Terre Haute...is anybody in town? If so, let me know and I'll tell you where to go.

"Indian-Americans" or if they aren't citizens or don't consider themselves American then "Indians from India"(or "India Indians") or just "Indians" if the context makes it apparent who is being referred to.

Ask if they're paying him heap big wampum for his appearance.

Bob - interested in this, how did Clohessy assist Mills?

If memory serves me correctly, Clohessy was friends with both Lydiard and Mills. Some of what Clohessy learned from Lydiard, he passed on to Mills. At the time, I believe Mills was feeling run down, and Clohessy's suggestions are what got him feeling rejuvenated for the Olympics. Until then, Mills was going by the philosophy of more is better, regarding intervals. After Clohessy's advice, Mills switched to workouts with a little better quality and a little less quantity- things like 4 x 800 in 1:54, or 8-10 by 300m in 38-39, instead of 20 x 400.

Again, this is from what I remember reading, and what I pieced together when I heard him speak about a month ago.
