Populism, class resentment and hyperbole hamstrung the Left in the 70's and it will do the same to the Right. If a political party claims to speak for "the people", run the other way, because soon anything will be justified by them. This goes for the Black Panthers, the Weather Underground, the 9/11 movement, the Religious Right, etc.

Palin will never be elected President. That's a good thing, in my opinion. If she ever were President, she'd rely on her aides to make critical decisions then ignore the advice and make catastrophic blunders. Her ego is way too large.

In addition, she'd drive the country further apart, giving more wealth to the "haves" and ignoring the "have nots". She'd ignore anyone who wasn't a white trash hockey mom like herself or anyone who wasn't in the all-white country club.

As far as her ideas for improving race relations are concerned, that's the biggest joke of all.

The double standard by NObama is astounding. If a black liberal were to cry "racist" or a feminist "sexism", the benefit of the doubt would always go to the accused. An eagle eye for "reverse racism" and a stone ear for the real thing. Conservatives don't dislike political correctness and victimology, they just want different correctness rules and to designate different victims.

Disliking Sarah Palin is no more sexist than disliking H illary Clinton.

Just like southern racist conservatives,liberals (yes they exists) and independents would have loved to see a black man run for president because "there's no way that would happen". You underestimate the American people and what they would/wouldn't want to see.

10 months on the job or not, nothing tangible has changed for the American people. Voters were leery that he was all sizzle no steak and so far his inaction is making his sheep stray.

The popularity (though waning) and at least the sustained interest in Sarah Palin to me is mind boggling. I don't see how she is interesting in any way...so she was a vice presidential candidate. We've never before as a country shown such interest in a former vice presidential candidate who didn't eventually become president (and she WON'T become president).

I agree with the comment that her family is crazily dysfunctional. Her education is laughable. John McCain was being a crazy old man by choosing her as a running mate, and even he knows she's not qualified in the slightest to be President of the United States. Someone said she was qualified to be a librarian, and I'll disagree with that (unless it's the hot librarian at the beginning of a certain kind of movie). My mother-in-law has a degree in "Library Science", and she's a brilliant woman who got straight A's in college and didn't have to go to 5 different universities before she graduated (she just needed one). Sarah Palin couldn't hold a candle to my librarian mother-in-law. I'd like to meet a person who would buy her book. There are questions I would ask, starting with, "Why the hell are you buying that book!"

There is a word for this feeling. Resentment. Stop hanging out with creationists and other morons and maybe we wouldn't think that. It isn't conservatives who are stupid, it is populists. An argument from resentment is very, very weak. The conservative movements whole appeal now is to stoke people's resentment at the very idea tha someone may be looking down on them. Why not fight that by b eing smart, not enobling ignorance. Palin is ignorant, plain and simple. If you are a creationist, you are ignorant. There is no difference of opinion here because the facts say one thing and "populist" wrongheadedness says another.

Do yout hink there were "death panels" in the health care bill? Do you think Obama wants to take away your guns? No evidence for any of these things. I don't get why the conservative populist hate the Islamic radical so much - they have everything in common. A love of ignorance, superstition, and truckloads of seething resentment.

I have nothing against conservatism when it is an argument about the proper size of government, possible unintended consequences of government involvement, skepticism about human nature, a different perspective on the balance of the public and private interests etc. What I do dislike is conservative ideology that comes from resentment, especially when blostered by outright falsehoods and inability to consider that one may be wrong. Palin's entire appeal is trying to stick it to the people that one imagines is looking down on you. It used too be the left that played this game in the old-style labor left that envisioned the "capitalist" as a pig at the trough taking advantage of them. I don't think this is going to turn out much better for the Right. You'll rile up the resentful rabble, alright, but won't do much for the middle that knows the world is complicated. The best conservative politicians used these folks for votes, but didn't do much for them in office.

It's amusing how the Right, which always used to complain about people portraying themselves as victims, now does nothing but portray its own folks as victims.

The idea that "the media" went tough on Palin is one huge recurring lie. They were asking for answers to the most basic questions, and she could not or would not supply them. Quickly, she went into a mode where she wouldn't take questions at all... now she mainly appears at forums where no reporters are permitted.

People...there is nothing about her that suggests she come anywhere near to embracing the workload that confronts a POTUS. Some of those late 19th century presidents who looked like they belonged on Smith Bros. cough drop boxes treated the presidency like a four-year vacation, but you can't do that anymore.... as the guy in office from 2001 to Jan. 2009 showed us.

Palin seems like a darling but the same as Hillary Clinton, Palin is anti-semtitic, is against freedom in Palestine, and Human Rights in Palestine. Not for me.
