BTW, props to the Saline girl's team for their victory. They have been close for years and they finally broke through.

"states" meet? how many states did she run in? i believe she only ran in the michigan state meet. so it would be called "state" meet, not the current ebonics "states" of the kids who have their moms and pops and peeps.
To those of you attempting to disect the term 'states', you are coming to the dance late and also calling the meet by the wrong name: there's an Upper Peninsula Finals (held Oct 24 in Escanaba) and Lower Peninsula Finals (held in Brooklyn @ MIS). There is no 'Michigan State Meet' in cross-country. The majority of kids call the meet 'states' whether they're in the UP or LP.
Many, if not all, LP media sources call the meet the 'State Meet' because they feel they have free license to call it what they want. They fear if they call it by its proper name, their readers will be confused. Or they'll say, teams/kids from the UP can't compete w/LP teams/kids so the LPF might as well be called the 'State Meet'.
Goethals run can be favorably compared w/that of a short, skinny kid from Rockford in '00 when he ran 14:10.
Why because she's skinny? She'll run less meets in College then she did in High School....This board loves Hasay but doesn't give Megan any respect?!? I see Megan being very good at the college level...
Hassay is very strong and healthy. This chick looks sick, she's got about 3-4 years left in her.
Wow seriously, these online accusations are so pathetic...
<- loser
You have picked the perfect name, less than a loser.
Hopefully, Megan has a good Footlocker race. She would be a great addition to Washingtons team.
Except she is not going to Washington.
Where is she going?
She will get 2nd at FL to Chelsey Sveinsson
Michigan State??
Interesting to see all the wrong predictions of megan, saying that she won't win footlocker and that shee wont attend UW. Megan doesn't get the same hype that a lot of the top girls runners in recent years have gotten, like Blood, Hasay, Brasovan. Also there are a lot of stupid accusations about her skinniness. She has always been naturally like this and eats healthily. This is no different than the super thin Kenyans. She has the same body type. In college I think she'll be able to contribute immediately and possibly be All-American. She is extremely focused and does all the little things to be successful. Not to mention of course being extremely talented. She'll make the adjustment to high mileage well, she pretty much never got injured in high school. Most importantly though, she is ambitious and very mentally tough. She is a very good racer, as evidenced by her comeback to win Footlockers against a more talented Sveinsson.

I want to make it clear I think Megan is a phenominal runner and is awesome to watch race. Seems like a great teammate and I'm not here to bash on her. However, this statement is ridiculous. I've seen her race for the last 3yrs and there is no way someone is 'naturally' as rail-thin as she is. That being said, no one can take away from everything she has accomplished and I hope she continues to have success (and stay healthy) at the next level.
